"I would strongly advise against using this company. My experience has been nothing but frustration and disappointment. First, when I got the estimate for a wood stove insert, I specifically told the salesperson that I wanted a large window to enjoy the fire and a unit that would effectively heat my home. He assured me I would get both. I paid a $4,000 deposit, trusting their word. When they called to schedule the install, I was shocked to learn they only install on weekday mornings—something that should have been disclosed before I paid. As a teacher and single mom, that was impossible for me, and I had to make last-minute arrangements for my brother to be there. On top of that, they showed up two hours late, almost making my brother miss an important appointment. Then comes the actual product—the window is much smaller than what I was promised, which was disappointing but not a dealbreaker. What was a dealbreaker? The blower didn’t work. They didn’t even leave the full manual, and after tracking it down online, we confirmed we were using it correctly. I reached out to the salesperson (who always communicated via text), and he ignored me for two days before telling me to "try a bigger fire." After spending over $20 on wood, I finally got the blower to turn on… for 30 seconds before shutting off again. That is not a functional heating system. I contacted them again and was suddenly told they were "reminding" me that they’d be coming by the next morning to check it—except no one had booked that with me. Again, I reminded them that I work during the day and need an appointment after 4 PM or on a weekend. He said he’d get back to me, and since then, I’ve sent multiple texts with zero response. At this point, I want my money back and for them to take this useless stove out of my house. Do not use this company. They mislead customers, have poor communication, and clearly don’t stand behind their products or service."

Fireplace Cleaners questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash often appear together in a quick search when looking for ways to paint brick—so, what’s the difference? Limewash paint is one of the most natural and environmentally friendly ways to paint brick. It’s made from limestone and water, giving it an off-white appearance that looks similar to whitewash. However, limewash is semi-permanent, whereas whitewash is a more permanent, watered-down version of existing paint.

Both brick paint options are economical and light in color, but if you want to change the appearance of your home’s brick in the future, then limewash might be a better option.

Hard materials like glass, metal, and hardwood floors, washable fabrics, and undamaged electrical appliances can often be salvaged after a fire, although it depends on the extent of the damage. For washable fabrics, make sure to use a phosphate mix during the washing process to extract the smoke smell. There are a few things you should throw away after a fire, like canned foods and cosmetics, even if they don’t look like they’re damaged.

Here's the deal with leaving used rags covered in oil-based stain lying around in a pile: Depending on the conditions, these rags can take just an hour or up to a few days to combust. The source of ignition is caused by trapped heat that can be compounded if the rags are near a heat source.

Cracks in the chimney can be very serious, depending on their location and size. Even small cracks can become serious over time if left unrepaired. Cracks allow heat and moisture to deteriorate your chimney and harmful carbon monoxide gas to seep into your home. Small cracks can often be caulked, while large cracked sections may require full replacement.

You may be wondering: can you paint cement? Fortunately, the answer is yes.

To change the color of your cinder blocks, you have two options. You can either paint them or stain them. Either way, you'll be able to choose from a wide range of color options. Some popular colors for cinder block painting include off-white shades and gray tones, which add a modern spin to the traditional gray blocks.
