"I am not a customer but the neighbor of the customer. 11/22/2017, the subcontractor Ashley contracted, C&H Disposal of Elmer NJ, pulled a dumpster from neighbor's yard & drove on my yard, leaving ruts where the tires were & damaging the enclosure for the water & gas (the water company fixed). C&H Disposal's driver left without informing me & I found it the next day as I got home from work after dark. Ashley said C&H Disposal took full responsibility for the damage & I would have to deal with them. I called C&H Disposal about the ruts & a month later after many false promises & a bunch of resistance, C&H Disposal showed up unannounced & filled in the ruts. Just topsoil; no seed, fertilizer, or an erosion preventer. The sidewalk damage makes this muddy. Winter & the downpour 4/16 showed that damage was done to the curb & sidewalk where C&H Disposal's truck drove onto my yard. The water pools on the sidewalk where the truck did the damage & causes muddy grass & possibly ice in the winter. I called C&H Disposal about the issue 4/13 (left message) & 4/17 & followed up both times by calling Ashley. I was told 4/17 by C&H Disposal they would not repair the damage because I waited 5 months (actually 4 months) to contact them (they were mostly unresponsive to get the ruts filled in). I didn't tell them the extensive damage because the damage didn't become apparent until months later due to the weather. They also questioned how they know their truck did the damage. If they initially responded & sent someone to inspect the damage, they would have seen the damage their driver incurred. They did more damage than initially observed & now refuse to repair the damage they caused. I followed up with Ashley & they agreed that since it had been 5 months (actually 4 months) since the damage occurred, they agreed with C&H Disposal & would not repair the damage to my sidewalk. Contractors like this give honest contractors a bad name."

Plowman’s Windows & Doors, owned and operated by husband and wife team, Joseph Sr. and Carole Plowman, is in its 28th year of operation in downtown Millville. Located at 118 E Vine St., Plowman’s was established in 1979 in the Salem County area, but settled in Cumberland County in 1983. Says Carole, “I was born and raised in Millville and my husband has been in Cumberland County most of his life.” “We are happy to be raising our family in Millville and are especially proud to be able to serve our community with its window and door needs.” Plowman’s has a full service retail and wholesale business. They specialize in custom vinyl replacement windows, of all shapes and sizes, and feature doors of every sort: storm, steel, fiberglass, wood, sliding, and hinged patio doors to name a few. “We take considerable pride in supplying the public with a quality made product that is reasonably priced”, says Joe Plowman. “Our concern is long-term.” “Will the customer still be satisfied years from now?” “We strive to sell great products at great prices.” Plowman’s Windows & Doors also installs the majority of the products they sell. “Our business is based on the philosophy, “Quality First – Service Second to None.” Our installation crews, headed up by Joe Plowman Sr. and sons Wes Plowman and Phillip Plowman, believe in giving 110% service to the customer. From the measuring of the first window or door to the cleaning of the last glass insert, every aspect of the job is handled with quality and professionalism. Customer satisfaction is expected and will be given before the job is complete. Joe Plowman Sr. is a 2nd generation Plowman in the window and door industry. He began working summers with his brother in 1967, and went to full time in 1971. He ventured out on his own in 1975. He has an extensive background in the building industry. With years of experience in roofing, framing, siding, decks, additions, and trim work, he has mastered many fields of construction. However, since 1990, he has specialized and focused his attention to the window and door industry, doing installation, and alterations when necessary. At 118 E Vine St. you will visit a showroom with full size displays of window and door products. Heading up our staff since 1981, is Carole Plowman who has a wealth of retail sales experience. Bunny Kohansky, sister to Joe, has been with the firm as office manager since 1992. Their knowledge, combined with that of other sales staff members, can make all the difference in choosing the right product for your project. Some of the other various items you will find at Plowman’s include skylights and roof windows, storm windows, Little Giant ladder systems, trim coil, Kwikset and Schlage door hardware, window and door accessory parts, siliconized caulking, bay, bow, and garden windows, pre-fabricated room enclosures, porch awning windows, interior door products, Fypon molded millwork, and basement windows. Plowman’s is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Evening hours are by appointment only. PHONE OFFICE 856-327-2841 AFTER 6:PM HOME 856-327-7732

Windows questions, answered by experts

Replacing window glass instead of the entire window is more cost-effective, maintains the frame's aesthetics, and reduces waste. It improves insulation and energy efficiency and can be completed more quickly with minimal disruption to the home.

Impact windows are absolutely worth the money if you live in an area prone to hurricanes. Though expensive, impact windows are built to withstand hurricane winds up to 200 mph and theoretically won’t break even if flying debris, such as mailboxes and lawn chairs, is smacked against the glass. A single broken window during a hurricane can destabilize the pressure inside your home, which can cause walls and the roof to collapse.

When comparing impact windows vs. hurricane shutters, it’s important to consider the protection and installation details to determine the right choice for you. For constant protection against storms and flying debris, impact windows are a better option than hurricane shutters, especially if you don’t want to install shutters that will change the look of your house. However, impact windows are more costly than hurricane shutters. If you want a budget-friendly option that’s still protective against storms, hurricane shutters are a solid option.

Storm windows are placed outside of already-installed windows. Regular windows are installed into a frame, offering a barrier to the elements but no special protection. Storm windows add extra protection to regular windows, reduce noise, and improve insulation. Replacing a regular window involves a different process than installing a storm window.

Drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty operating, or visible frames or glass damage are signs of needed repairs.
