"Steve from Sun control contacted me shortly after my request, gave me a reasonable quote, came and completed the job two days later. Looks great, and solved a sun glare problem in a room frequently used for TV, that had two quarter round windows about 18 ft high with no window treatments. He was professional and neat, and it was great doing business with him. Glad I used Home Advisor to find this business."

"The service technician Mike came on time. He quickly setup his work table and then I showed him the 5 window screens that needed to be removed & rescreened plus the 1 window screen that needed to be adjusted into place. Mike quickly removed all 5 window screens and carefully numbered each of them to ensure that he put back the correct window screen into the correct window as we had 3 large screens & 2 smaller screens. Mike was able to quickly remove all of the damage screens & gasket. He then quickly installed the new window screens & gasket onto their frames. Afterwards, he quickly reinstalled the new window screens back into their windows. Two (2) of them were a bit stubborn to reinstall but with great skill, patience & a bit of luck, he got them all installed. Great work & nice to deal with a professional like Mike."

Small jobs welcome

"Angel installed a new vinyl floor, cabinet, and sink in my laundry room. Also replaced an interior door, and did troubleshooting on a leak we were having in our sunroom. Angel stayed in touch throughout the process, arrived on time and did flawless work, we couldn’t be more pleased. Would highly recommend for any home improvement projects you may have."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Wood windows will help keep an old home's charm, but they are more expensive and harder to maintain. Vinyl or fiberglass windows offer the best benefits in terms of durability and ease of care while still somewhat blending into the look and feel of an older home.  If the vinyl or fiberglass looks too out of place, consider adding shutters or something similar. The cost of plantation shutters is about $2,990, but the charm they bring to a home is unmatched.

Vinyl windows have a few cons to consider before installing. For instance, while vinyl windows are energy efficient in terms of maintaining your home’s temperature, the actual process of making vinyl windows involves chemicals that are harmful for the environment. Vinyl windows are also less customizable than some other types of windows.

The primary benefits of an egress window include providing a safe emergency exit, increasing natural light in a space like a basement, and improving ventilation. Additionally, installing an egress window can often increase your property's value.

There are a few reasons your crank windows might not close. First, determine if your window crank is working properly and opening and closing the window when you turn it. If it’s not, the crank may need replacing, cleaning, or lubricating. Another reason your windows aren’t closing could be dirt and debris in the window hinges or sash. Finally, make sure your window lock operator is set in the unlocked position and isn’t blocking the window from fully closing. If you’re still having trouble closing your window, it may be worth consulting a local window contractor.

Impact windows are a type of window made with impact-resistant glass, designed specifically for hurricanes. The glass, treated with ethylene-vinyl, can withstand winds up to 200 mph, as well as flying debris. Brands sometimes test their impact windows with large missile impact tests.

Impact windows may be required in some places. For instance, the Florida Building Code requires homes to have impact-resistant windows if they live within a mile of the coast where wind speeds can reach 110 mph or more.
