About us

Plowman’s Windows & Doors, owned and operated by husband and wife team, Joseph Sr. and Carole Plowman, is in its 28th year of operation in downtown Millville. Located at 118 E Vine St., Plowman’s was established in 1979 in the Salem County area, but settled in Cumberland County in 1983. Says Carole, “I was born and raised in Millville and my husband has been in Cumberland County most of his life.” “We are happy to be raising our family in Millville and are especially proud to be able to serve our community with its window and door needs.” Plowman’s has a full service retail and wholesale business. They specialize in custom vinyl replacement windows, of all shapes and sizes, and feature doors of every sort: storm, steel, fiberglass, wood, sliding, and hinged patio doors to name a few. “We take considerable pride in supplying the public with a quality made product that is reasonably priced”, says Joe Plowman. “Our concern is long-term.” “Will the customer still be satisfied years from now?” “We strive to sell great products at great prices.” Plowman’s Windows & Doors also installs the majority of the products they sell. “Our business is based on the philosophy, “Quality First – Service Second to None.” Our installation crews, headed up by Joe Plowman Sr. and sons Wes Plowman and Phillip Plowman, believe in giving 110% service to the customer. From the measuring of the first window or door to the cleaning of the last glass insert, every aspect of the job is handled with quality and professionalism. Customer satisfaction is expected and will be given before the job is complete. Joe Plowman Sr. is a 2nd generation Plowman in the window and door industry. He began working summers with his brother in 1967, and went to full time in 1971. He ventured out on his own in 1975. He has an extensive background in the building industry. With years of experience in roofing, framing, siding, decks, additions, and trim work, he has mastered many fields of construction. However, since 1990, he has specialized and focused his attention to the window and door industry, doing installation, and alterations when necessary. At 118 E Vine St. you will visit a showroom with full size displays of window and door products. Heading up our staff since 1981, is Carole Plowman who has a wealth of retail sales experience. Bunny Kohansky, sister to Joe, has been with the firm as office manager since 1992. It?s a family owned business, I think 40 years or so.?It was excellent. We had a slight problem where they trampled some of our flowers. It was one of those things, stuff fell on the flowers. They were perennials, so they came back the following year, so it was fine. The good part was that we?ve been very happy with the windows, we had no real issues. We actually had one come off the track and we couldn?t get it back on because they?re tilting. The owner came out and did the repair for us, no charge. I think they have been doing business in the community for many years. Their local and they?re responsible. We didn?t want to get cheap ones that would need replaced in a few years because they?ve warped. They?re great, I would give them ?A?s? for everything. The workers were excellent. My house, I joked! I said, ?By the time these guys got done, I think my house was cleaner inside then before they did it. They put booties on when they came in, they swept and vacuumed. It was a good experience. I would recommend them to someone else.

Plowman's exceeded above and beyond what I had anticipated! Building a newly constructed home as your own GC is no simple task, but Plowman's made my window purchase a piece of cake! From my initial phone call requesting a quote to the delivery of the windows, they were with me every step of the way. I couldn't have asked for a better company to work with. Professional, informative and courteous.

I was highly impressed the moment I stepped into the showroom of Plowmans. We were instantly greeted and placed into capable hands.
My husband and I were in the market for a side entry door and a front door. While speaking with the Salesperson, I noted that they also could do interior doors so we wound up throwing those into the deal as well.
The attention to detail once we started to move forward was impressive. The owner came out to do our measurements and noted the position of our interior and exterior handles.
Our quote was ready quickly, and we decided to move forward. Once I stopped in with the deposit check, a few details (including my hardware, since I was providing my own) were discussed. After we noted a few discrepancies with my notations, the owner decided to play it safe and stop by my home to double check with me to ensure that all was well.
My doors came in quickly, and over a three day span were installed. The crew that came to my home was courteous, polite and highly intent on doing quality work. They did meticulous measurements of my interior doors to ensure that they were properly hung and that the hinges were placed in the right spot over the existing notches.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this family owned business.

It went wonderfully. Plowman's was working with our roofer to shorten windows so that we could change the roof line of our addition that started leaking due to Sandy. Plowman's installed 4 windows 12 inches shorter than original - reframed the windows, spackled, insulated and drywalled. On all windows the siding was removed, retaped, caulked, and siding reinstalled. The front of the house has wood trim around each window and they ended up replacing the wood and covering it with Aluminum so that we no longer had to paint. YAY!!! Joe, Carol, Will, and the others were wonderful with all our questions and service. If I need their services again, I am definately going back to them.

I am very pleased with Plowman's work. This is a family owned and run business. The owner, Joe Plowman, did the initial measurements; Carol Plowman gave the price estimate (patiently, as we went through several decision changes); and Wes Plowman was the supervisor / foreman on the job. Joe came by several days to check the work. The work crew showed up promptly (actually, early) worked steadily each day. They were polite and professional. (No cursing, arguing, yelling, etc.) They took extra time to do the job right, for example they replaced the door bell buttons and they capped a metal support (for brick veneer) above the window even though neither was a part of the contract.

They did an excellent job cleaning up after the work, too. Miters on the door trim are perfect. We noticed a cut in a screen and when I brought it to Wes's attention, he apologized - not for the damage, but for forgetting to tell us that he saw it when the windows arrived from the supplier. He had already ordered a replacement screen.

For installation of two of the doors, no one could stay home. We had to trust them with our house. No problems. They locked up when they were through.

Bottom line. They may not be the cheapest, but you get quality, reliability, trustworthiness and professionalism from this family owned business. It's good to see a company that takes pride in its work.
