Winner of the 2020 Angie's List Super Service Award, a winner nine out of the past 10 years. We are a locally owned family business supported by a national franchise company which is North America's most trusted handyman company. For more than 15 years we've consistently hired experienced, reliable craftsmen (not sub-contractors) who are licensed, insured, bonded and background checked. That means you'll receive consistently high quality work that is 100% guaranteed. What sets us apart: Mr. Handyman's professionals arrive in branded uniforms and vans that are stocked with every tool they'll need for your job. Our on-time record is second to none, and we arrive ready to work. One phone call to Mr. Handyman hires professionals who complete your entire "To Do" list. Every task whether major or minor home repair is prioritized according to your needs. Rather than calling a specialist for drywall repair and another contractor for rain gutter repair, your neighbors consistently choose us for all their home improvement needs. Mr. Handyman can complete a variety of projects for you, from installing doors, to tiling your bathroom, repairing your deck and much more.
"I had a truly MISERABLE experience with Mr. Handyman. I called Mr. Handyman and spoke to one of the administrators about wanting to demo an existing shed, and build a new one. They asked for what the shed should look like and some details, I provided a few photos of a relatively run-of-the-mill red barn style shed, they gave me a quote for a shed for $2500, and they put me on the schedule. The primary contractor arrives, tries to convince me to change the shed because the one I wanted will take long to build and is too complicated. I am annoyed, and eventually cave, we agree that he's just going to build a single pitch roof shed. They demo the shed, and then leave for the day. That evening Mr. Handyman calls me to schedule 2 additional days. The day I got cost me $2700, and my yard is completely full of debris from my old shed, a huge ditch excavated, the foundation is about 50% built. So I'm over budget by a bit and the work is at 10% complete. The extra two days will cost an ADDITIONAL $3300. I'm furious, I speak to the owner, we come to an arrangement, I pay a fixed $4500 for labor and give them my credit card to buy materials. I'm WAY over budget but at this point I need it done because my yard is in shambles. Next week they come out for two days, and then leave my yard with literal trash everywhere (see photos), and building materials all over, while also making use of MY ladder and MY wagon. If they care for my stuff I'm fine with it, but still found it shocking that they would just commandeer my stuff for their purposes without even asking (pictured is my own ladder on the shed). They tell me they need me to buy a door, can't find one and ask me to search and find a double door. I'm in way too deep at this point, so I call around and finally find a door. I printed out the product page and reviewed it with them outside and they say "yep, we'll go to Union and pick this door up." They go get it, and the door doesn't fit into their van, contractor is calling me panicking, the owner is calling me and asking me to coordinate between his contractor on site and the helper at Lowes. This is the middle of a work day and I had to abandon an important meeting while this is happening. So now I am spending an hour trying to explain this situation to Lowes and coordinate a box truck delivery for a door that they have marked as picked up by the customer, it's a TOTAL mess, meanwhile my expenses for this shed are nearly triple my original quote as material costs have pushed us above the $6k range already. Fourth day of work comes and goes relatively uneventfully, Lowes fortunately delivered the door for me after much confusion and back/forth ("But it's marked as picked up, where is the door?" etc.), and the guys installed it as an inswing. When we decided on buying an inswing door, the contractor said he could flip the door hinges no problem to make it an outswing, I bought an inswing door because it's the only one available. Who wants a shed with an inswinging door? So I'm busy all day, and eventually they leave at around 2pm having finished everything, cleaned up the site, and mostly leveled the ditch they made. I go outside and find out the door was installed as an inswing, and they installed a doorknob with a lock, which I actually specifically asked them not to. What a disaster of a job. Ron of Mr. Handyman insists that they don't do bait-and-switch type operations. You judge my experience for yourself, I obviously think it was one of the worst contractor experiences I have ever had and will not only never use mr handyman, but make sure that anyone I know is aware of just how awful it was. Tuffshed from HomeDepot doesn't do shed demo but after this miserable experience I say just call your garbage company, get a dumpster, and suffer through doing the demo yourself because in the end you will 100% not regret it. Or call American Shed. Literally anything would be better than Mr. Handyman."

NY based business; here at One Final Touch Furniture we offer quality furniture restoration, custom furniture, and home improvement. We pick up furniture to repair in our shop.
"Unprofessional. A complete and total disappointment. Mike was supposed to stain and match my cabinet finish and the color was way off, and he kept trying to convince me that the colors matched. Mike didn't arrive prepared with any tools or material, not even a screwdriver! Mike argued with his assistant the whole time. Mike and assistant went on a 3 hour lunch break, and ended up working on my cabinets until 9am, and didn't finish!! Mike returned alone the following day, I shared that I was unhappy with the quality of the work, he hung my cabinets, and did not properly secure then to the beams, and I could not put anything in the cabinets. I shared with him that the project was not satisfactory and he stated "when women start to complain, I have to leave, I can't listen to women complain". I had to pay another contractor to come in an take down the cabinets and re-install them securely. See the picture posted. The 2 long middle wall cabinets are lighter than the rest of the cabinets, they stand out. Don't hire this person, it's not worth it."

"I first submitted my information to this company through their website. I received no response to that. I then called them twice to give my information. Each time I called, they told me I would hear from somebody in two to three days. I didn't receive a reply until I left a negative review. By the time I heard from someone named Ed, I already had another company out to inspect the damage in my home. I told Ed I'd get back to him if it didn't work out with that company. That company didn't get back to me for me to pay them and provide the estimates. I decided to try submitting my information for a project on Yelp. I received interest from one company. That company didn't call when they said they would, so it seemed like it was going to fall through with them. I called back Ed to set up a day and time to come out to visit. I ended up hearing from the company that I found after submitting my project to Yelp, and it seemed like they were going to come through with the estimates I needed. I called Ed back to cancel our appointment because I didn't want him wasting his time coming if this other company was going to provide the estimates. This other company wasn't calling when they said they would, getting back to me days later when I wasn't sure if I was ever going to hear from them again. I decided to call Ed to reschedule another appointment. This time he told me his boss didn't want to be involved with providing estimates if they're going to be used in a lawsuit. He referred me to another company, which didn't respond. After getting the runaround from two other companies, Ed and AW Martin got rid of me by referring me to a company that also didn't want to get involved. If a company has a problem with their estimates being used in a lawsuit, that sends up a red flag for me. It's frustrating, but I'm quickly learning how to deal with contractors. Don't tell them what you intend to use their estimates for. Fortunately, I've found a fifth company that I believe is going to provide the estimates I need. I was honest with them and told them why I needed the estimates, and they're even willing to appear in court to back up those estimates for a fee. In that case, I'm sure I can trust them, and their estimates will help me greatly with my lawsuit."

The average cost to hire a woodworker for a project in your home is around $65 per hour, but hourly rates can range from $35 to $250 or more, depending on the experience and skill of the woodworker. Your total woodworking project cost will depend on the complexity of the work, the type of wood, the number of projects, and any other materials your project requires. You could hire a professional woodworker to create everything from a custom cabinet to ornate, unique staircases.
Generally, general contractors charge between $50 and $150 hourly, though not every contractor charges by the hour. If charging based on the project, you can expect a markup of 10% to 20% of the construction cost. You can expect to pay between $300 and $500 daily if charged by the day.
While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Every woodworker has different skills and experience, so we recommend asking the following questions when hiring a woodworker for your project:
How long have you been in the woodworking industry?
What experience do you have with my type of project?
Do you have customer references I can speak with?
How long do you expect my project to take?
What is my recourse if I have an issue with your work?
Do you charge hourly or per project?
Will you work on-site or in your own workshop?
Does your fee include the necessary post-job clean-up?
While they perform similar tasks, a carpenter is responsible for the woodworking that goes into construction—like framing, installing sheathing, and hanging kitchen cabinets—while a woodworker tackles more intricate and custom projects—like building custom furniture and installing wainscoting. Based on these definitions, most woodworkers can tackle the jobs of a carpenter, but you should always ask about your specific project when choosing a woodworker to ensure they have the necessary skills to tackle the job.
