"I've hired Misael several times and I'm very pleased with the outcome as well as Misael's professionalism throughout every project. Estimates are fully documented in line-item form and accurate. Very neat and does his best to minimize impact to daily living. Most recently, we had a basement completely refinished. The job was completed quickly, on budget, and with good quality workmanship. He also had great recommendations for design/materials. Previously, he completed a full bathroom remodel. That was a challenging project for a number of reasons - but Misael persevered through the problems and the resulting bathroom is terrific. I can't recommend CFI enough."

"Professional & courteous. Antony and Justin worked ALL day to give us a beautiful shower. Angel and Deyond did the rest (floor, sink, mirror and toilet). Even moving the plumbing and plastering the walls! Couldnâ t be happier with the workmanship!"

"The job: 2 bathrooms renovated The initial estimate: competitively priced Our initial impression after meeting Sina (1/2 of the partnership with Ali): that we would be dealing with professionals who would be dedicated to high standards of workmanship and commitment to our job….We would later discover that this same dedication and commitment extended beyond Sina and Ali to their entire crew consisting of a painter/spackler, a rug installer, a plumber, and tile installers Our impression as the job progressed: they all demonstrated a pride in their work and personal contribution to the overall project Our overall impression at the completion of the job: from the beginning to end we were very pleased with the overall experience with BAS Construction. The entire BAS team definitely confirmed our initial expectation of high standards of workmanship and job commitment. We would not hesitate to highly recommend BAS Construction for any private or commercial project that you are planning."

"After dealing with roto rooter and Losch plumbing with very bad experiences. Thank God for finding Once & Done. Very professional crew, they did a great job in installing the new sump pump that we definitely needed. Jeff was very honest and nice and explained everything that had to be done in detail. Highly recommend."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

No, rough-in plumbing isn’t usually required for minor bathroom changes. However, if you’re taking on the cost of a bathroom remodel and require plumbing work, hiring your local plumber to replumb your home is best. Rough-in plumbing is only ideal for new construction and full-blown renovations.

Depending on the issue, you have a good shot at fixing a leaking sink yourself. If you have some plumbing experience or are comfortable with DIY jobs, you can clean the P trap, tighten nuts, replace washers, and replace shut-off valve stems on your own. For more complicated jobs, such as repairing a garbage disposal, calling a pro may be the way to go.

First, check that you have cut off the water supply to your toilet. This is a project that can only be done safely if running water cannot reach your toilet fixture. If you're seeing water trickle out after you've confirmed that the water supply is shut off, you can probably rest assured that what you're seeing isn't a problem. It's common for leftover water to spill out when you're removing your toilet's fill valve. If something goes wrong while you're working on your toilet, you'll need to look at your home's policy to see if your homeowner insurance covers water damage.

That pesky faucet leak can have a few different causes, most of which are standard wear and tear that occurs over time, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying, especially when the energy bill hits:

  • Old washer: A deteriorated washer or gasket is the most common cause of a leak. Luckily, it’s easy and affordable to fix.

  • Old packing nut: There’s a chance the packing nut (located beneath the handle) is loose and simply needs tightening, or it has been worn down, stripped, and needs to be replaced.

  • Freezing temperatures: The water sitting in your spigot over winter can freeze, expand, and lead to damage and leaks.

  • High water pressure: High water pressure is hard on pipes over time and can cause cracks and leaks, too.

In most cases, a dripping faucet will not stop on its own. Dripping usually occurs because of a failed cartridge or broken washers. Normal wear and tear eventually runs these parts down and causes the faucet to drip when you've already shut off your sink. Replacing the cartridge or washer should fix the problem.
