"Aztek Construction came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. In fact I would say they exceeded my expectation. Pat Bowen was great to work with, very personable and friendly. The 2 man crew, Greg and Chris, was awesome as well. Very informative and knowledgeable. On top of their professionalism and excellent work and work ethic, we got along really well which is very important to me. Men of character and of their word. I highly recommend them for structural repair."

"Working with Joe and his business has been a great experience. We’ve been working with Joe for a few years and he’s the most reliable and consistent contractor we’ve had out to our home. He’s responsive, accessible for questions/concerns and always willing to help us with our fall/spring projects. He has also given us creative solutions when we needed to be conservative with our spending. We highly recommend Joe Landscaping!"

"Met with Joe to express our needs and brainstormed different options and decided on an approach that was best for the existing layout. Joe is a great communicator throughout our entire experience, updating progress and arrival times, etc. The working crew did an all around awesome job from demolition of deteriorating walkway, driveway and porch to the laying the new areas. They were dry pleasant and personable to speak with. What was most impressive was the pride of their work and attention to details. When the driveway and side walk were poured, they took time to neatly backfill the edges with little spade shovels and level everything out. Their cleanup was impeccable to the point you would not have known they were even here. At the end of the project, they roped off the area to keep people off and dry properly to the point they will have to return to retrieve the poles and such. Joe also made it a point to take the time on the do‘s and don’ts of how to properly maintain. It’s"

Customers say: Quick response

"Nick was very professional. Very respectful and definitely not money hungry. He’s not quick to tell you that the sky is falling and make the job seems bigger than it is, to make more money, like some other contractors I’ve encountered. That’s my honest opinion and experience with him. I would recommend him."

"My husband and I were looking to get our old concrete driveway redone. We hired Kesto Masonry to take it out and put in new concrete. They made the process very easy and were done in a couple of days. We would definitely suggest them to anyone looking to get new concrete done."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is usually possible to repair a damaged brick mailbox. A professional brick mason or masonry contractor can perform the repairs. They can assess the damage, provide an estimate, and help you determine if the repair is worthwhile based on the mailbox's value and the extent of the damage. The repair process may involve sourcing replacement bricks and mortar. Damaged bricks can be cut out and replaced, or the mortar joints can be cut out and retucked. It's important to note that the new mortar may differ in color from the original. If the mailbox insert itself is damaged, it can typically be cut out and replaced as well. If your brick mailbox has been completely destroyed, you should check with your local building code enforcement office before rebuilding, as some areas do not allow brick mailboxes due to the potential hazard they pose to drivers.

The best way to clean creosote from brick is to hire a professional chimney sweep. However, you can use a creosote log to remove excess buildup between cleanings. You can also clean minor creosote buildup using dish soap or vinegar mixed with water.

Yes, it is normal to see some minor hairline cracks in brick or mortar over time, often due to natural foundation settling. However, not all cracks are harmless. You should be concerned and contact a masonry professional for an inspection if you notice cracks that are getting wider or longer, or if new ones keep appearing. Other serious warning signs that can indicate significant structural or foundation damage include large vertical cracks (especially those that widen as they go up), stair-step cracks, L-shaped cracks, and deep horizontal cracks. Factors like temperature changes, moisture, and structural loading can also cause cracks to form or worsen.

Discoloration ondifferent types of brick can range from harmless to red flag. For example, efflorescence that is caused by a buildup of water-soluble white salt is considered harmless. However, green or greenish-yellow stains are caused by salts that are harmful to brick. Staining can also be caused by rust, corrosion, lime run, soot, algae, or moss.

Yes, you can do German schmear on stone. You can account for the more textured and rough surface of stone by using a large paintbrush instead of a putty knife. A brush allows you to drag mortar across the stone to get it into all the cracks and crevices. However, a brush will cover more of the surface, so you may need a wet sponge to scrub excess mortar and expose more of your stone.
