An outdoor water valve typically has a round or oval handle that you can turn to control the water flow. It may be located in a protective box or pit near the property line, where the main water line connects to your house.
The precharged pressure tank should start at around 28 psi. The two pressure settings of note are the cut-in and cut-out pressure. These are the best natural ways to increase bacteria in your septic tank. Septic tank additives are not necessary and may even cause harm to your septic system.
Baking soda can help neutralize a septic smell. If the pH balance inside your tank is off, it can emit a sulfurous odor that resembles rotten eggs. Pour one cup of baking soda down your toilet once a week to help neutralize your septic tank. If you want to increase the bacteria in your septic tank, add three rotten tomatoes to your septic tank through your garbage disposal. You can do this once every three months.
Your drain field or leach field should be 1 to 3 feet under the ground. It will be a little shallower than the septic tank, although it can be the same depth or slightly deeper. The proper depth of the septic tank is up to 4 feet. It’s possible that your local regulatory agency requires a certain depth for your drain field.
