"We absolutely loved how our home turned out. Ideal Siding was the absolute most professional and thoughtful company we have worked with. The owner Michael was so responsive, easy to work with and detail oriented. His entire crew was also amazing. They double and triple checked every area they worked on ensuring each cut for the cement board was perfect. He is not a pushy sales person at all. In fact he will tell you only what you need, which is completely different from the other siding contractors. The craftsmanship was amazing and the crew left zero mess. I have gotten so many compliments on my home, and it brings me so much joy to come home everyday to a beautifully sided house. I would highly recommend Ideal Siding. They are fair from start to finish and extremely professional. I want to say a huge thanks for such an amazing experience and beautiful sided home. As one neighbor said to me, your home is a “show-stopper”!"

"Mr. Bergen's team of carpenters and painters arrived on time and completed all work within two days: one day to repair and another day to paint. They did excellent work and left no mess behind.
It is refreshing to find a contractor like Mr. Bergen, who has a keen eye not only for existing problems, but for ways to prevent their recurrence in the future. Mr. Bergen and his team were completely professional in all the work that they did.
Mr. Bergen was not the lowest cost contractor, but his work was fairly priced. We will happily use him for future work on our home.

"Vail-Syde did a wonderful job replacing some damaged siding due to the previous owner's dog chewing it up. They replaced it and matched the paint so you would never know it was replaced and looks great. They worked quickly and efficiently. Rustin was great to work with. I highly recommend them."

"Amazing interactions with all the Legacy exterior team. They knocked on my door and within a week were able to give me an estimate. After that took about six weeks to complete the siding job, the crew were wonderful, pleasant, and clean! I would highly recommend Legacy exteriors to anyone looking for home improvements!!!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Hardie board is more expensive than vinyl siding. Vinyl siding costs $3 to $12 per square foot, on average, with cost skewing toward the lower end of that range. Hardie board siding costs $7 to $18 per square foot, depending on the style, color, and trim. However, it lasts twice as long and often looks nicer, meaning you’ll see a higher bump in your home value and greater curb appeal from Hardie board.

Yes, it is common for mold to grow on the underside of the siding due to the moist atmosphere. When there is an abundance of moisture, mold has the ideal environment to spread and thrive. This fungus can be found on virtually any surface, both indoors and outdoors. Generally, it is most active when the environment is warm, damp, and humid.

Yes, you can shou sugi ban existing siding, but it might pose a hazard to wooden structures, shouldn’t involve treated wood, and must be done by a siding professional. You can not char wood on a house without first removing the boards, so it’s a more complicated replacement project than other siding types.

This is a tricky answer because how fast you work, how large your team is, and what type of siding you install will all determine your total time. One person placing bricks around an entire house can take weeks, but a team of 10 could complete the job in just a few days. Installing siding is a job that’s best done by a pro, as they are experienced and will perform solid work. A rough guideline for DIYers is to budget 15 minutes per square foot of siding.

Vinyl log siding is durable, rot-resistant, colorfast, and scratch-resistant, and it can last for an average of around 30 years. Some vinyl siding can last for up to 60 years with proper maintenance. You won’t need to repaint or restain this type of siding every several years like you would with wood, so ongoing costs and upkeep will be minimal. Although it’s relatively low maintenance, you should still wash your vinyl log siding twice per year. Doing so will increase its longevity, remove any mold, and retain your home’s curb appeal.
