"The Bizzzy Bee has been our go to contractor for more projects than I can remember. Vince Curcio, the owner of The Bizzzy Bee, is available pretty much immediately when the need arises and in our case the need has arisen ALOT! The work is always exemplary, his guys have all been with him for many years so they are all tried and true. We've had electrical work done as well and everything his electrician touches looks and works great! The Bizzzy Bee's pricing is well within our budget and Vince will quote the work however you need it. If you are a do it yourselfer, Vince's guys are even willing to come in behind you and fix what you mess up! The swale that was dug looks amazing and I really wish we had had the work done years ago. There will never again be excess moisture around the foundation. The deck is currently under construction and it looks amazing and solid. Again I wish we had had it done ages ago. The guys have found parts that needed extensive repair and instead of leaving as is they have removed and replaced everything that is damaged and the final product is rock solid and will last for years. They don't cut corners and you can trust that the guts look as great as the exterior of any work The Bizzzy Bee completes. I can't say enough about how happy we are with The Bizzzy Bee and Vince Curcio and crew. They have helped us through thick and thin and will be the first call we make in the future, in this house or any other."

"We absolutely loved how our home turned out. Ideal Siding was the absolute most professional and thoughtful company we have worked with. The owner Michael was so responsive, easy to work with and detail oriented. His entire crew was also amazing. They double and triple checked every area they worked on ensuring each cut for the cement board was perfect. He is not a pushy sales person at all. In fact he will tell you only what you need, which is completely different from the other siding contractors. The craftsmanship was amazing and the crew left zero mess. I have gotten so many compliments on my home, and it brings me so much joy to come home everyday to a beautifully sided house. I would highly recommend Ideal Siding. They are fair from start to finish and extremely professional. I want to say a huge thanks for such an amazing experience and beautiful sided home. As one neighbor said to me, your home is a “show-stopper”!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Traditionally, you place a layer of ⅜-inch foam board beneath aluminum siding. This gives you a smooth surface to which you can fasten the trim and siding. Beneath the foam board, you should have some kind of waterproof sheathing to further protect your home from water damage. It’s possible this sheathing is already under your current siding.

Yes, the thickness of siding is an important factor to consider when replacing it. Siding thickness helps to determine how your home retains and redirects heat. While thicker siding has a premium price, it offers greater strength and durability, stronger insulation, better wind and weather resistance, increased rigidity, and better soundproofing.

Wood clapboard siding needs frequent sealing to keep it in top condition—likely every two to three years. A sealant helps protect it from both moisture and sunlight damage. Your weather and climate will affect how often you need to seal the siding, but the pros recommend sealing it every couple of years. More durable woods in milder climates may not need to be sealed quite as often.

You should consider acclimating the wood for your shou sugi ban siding for around two weeks before installation to balance its moisture content and prevent warping. That additional step will ensure your materials are prepped for installation, avoiding complex repairs down the line. Consult your siding contractor for additional installation instructions for this specialized material.

Composite siding is very resistant to warping that can affect some other sidings. Because of its composition, this siding doesn’t have the same risks of moisture damage that can cause rotting, buckling, and warping. Composite material doesn’t warp in high temperatures the way some kinds of vinyl siding can.

That said, composite siding is not entirely immune from moisture damage. It should still be properly installed so that moisture can properly drain from behind the siding, and protected by eaves and clean gutter so the siding doesn’t get repeatedly soaked by rain, which could lead to damage.
