"We had squirrels in our attic. They came out set a trap and removed all of the squirrels. Somehow the squirrels found their way back in again months later and they came out promptly and removed that squirrel as well because we had a one year warranty. I would definitely use them again."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

For minor pest problems in Murphy, start by vacuuming up spider webs, using boric acid for ant trails, and sealing gaps with steel wool or silicone caulk. Keep firewood stacked away from your house, trim back native shrubs, and repair torn screens to reduce rodent and insect entry. Always wear gloves, follow product directions, and ventilate treated areas for safety.

Helpful?

In NC, hidden costs can arise from repairing wood rot or insulation damaged by termites and rodents, or from cleaning up after wildlife like raccoons in attics. Addressing moisture issues, such as installing vapor barriers or sump pumps, is also common. Seasonal pest maintenance, exclusion upgrades, and follow-up treatments for persistent infestations may add to the overall expense.

Helpful?

Murphy homeowners increasingly choose crawl space encapsulation and moisture barriers to prevent pest entry. Wildlife-friendly exclusion, like using copper mesh for rodent exclusion and installing smart pest monitors, is gaining popularity. Native landscaping reduces pest harborage, while concealed bait stations and eco-friendly treatments help maintain the area’s mountain charm and support long-term pest prevention.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Murphy often overlook sealing small foundation cracks or forget to address persistent moisture, which encourages pest activity. Relying solely on sprays without removing food sources or clutter can let infestations return. Ignoring early signs of carpenter bees or termites, or attempting to remove large wasp nests without proper protection, are frequent missteps that can worsen problems.

Helpful?

In Murphy, basements and crawl spaces often attract mountain pests like rodents and moisture-loving insects due to the region’s damp climate. Attics can harbor bats or squirrels, while wooden porches and foundation edges are frequent targets for termites and carpenter ants. Kitchens and pantries are prone to ant and roach activity, especially during humid months, making regular inspections essential.
