"Our project was to replace a deck with a new larger one and build a roof over it. I was nervous about hiring a contractor but Hugo was recommended by a friend. « Go with Hugo, he did a superb job of carpentry in my house ! ». I am so grateful to her! I did hire Hugo. As for his work, the words “top-notch”, “first-rate” come to mind. He and his crew are outstanding professionals. The whole construction was done with such care and proficiency. My husband and I are delighted with the result. Hugo’s work was not inexpensive but I did not want to end up with a car port ! Considering that we got exactly what we wanted, with the quality of both material and workmanship, we felt it was a fair deal. Also, I appreciated Hugo’s passion for his own work and the advice of an experienced builder. As a bonus, he was completely trustworthy, showing up when he said he would, meeting all date-lines, explaining small delays while waiting for Inspections from our County, etc… and taking care of “everything”, like permits or attending to last minute requests. Finding a professional to mount your television to the wall is a little challenging because no licenses exist for this type of work. You could ask friends or neighbors for recommendations. Check out online reviews, too. Typically, though, almost any local handyman can do the work. A local electronics store or the place where you bought the TV may have a recommendation for you. A local framer or drywall installer might do the work for you as well. If you need an outlet installed for the new TV, an electrician may do both items for you.

Yes, you can mount a TV on a brick wall. This process may take a little more time and different tools, however. You’ll need to directly drill mounting holes into the bricks using a masonry drill and masonry bits instead of a regular power drill. Masonry drills have the power and design to drill into denser surfaces like brick. Use either plastic anchors or concrete screws to mount your TV. 

You will be placing holes in the wall to hang the mounting bracket. If you’re mounting a large TV, the bolts in use could make significant holes around half an inch in diameter. Other than a few holes, though, the process of mounting the TV should not cause significant damage to the wall, unless you make an error and miss the wall stud, tearing out drywall. Should you decide to remove the mount later, the DIY drywall repair cost for a small hole usually is $10 to $30. It’s a repair you can do in a few minutes.

Mounting a TV on a brick wall is possible as a DIY project. You will use the same techniques you used for hanging a picture on a brick wall: drilling into the wall and inserting wall anchors. These anchors need to be large to support the weight of the TV wall bracket and the TV. You should drill into the brick instead of the mortar so you have enough support for the weight of the TV wall brackets and the TV. 

Do not install a TV above an active fireplace or wood-burning stove because of excess heat and temperature fluctuations. Another place that can be tricky for electronics is the bathroom, where moisture can be a factor. If you choose to mount a TV in these areas, you should find a weather-resistant appliance.
