"Very professional, thorough, and hardworking. Very reasonably priced based on the multiple quotes were solicited. They worked around us having a few dogs and cats to complete the work with excellent results. We would readily hire this contractor again for other wood working installations or repairs. We really like the way Home Advisor provides a walkthrough process of what the customer needs and then then listing contractors vetted to meet those needs and that respond immediately.. This is one of three projects that we used Home Advisor for with results that exceeded expectations. Thank you very much."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

Quartzite countertops are porous, meaning that liquids can seep into the stone and stain them. You’ll need to seal them before installing and resealing annually, depending on use and stone material. Sealing will help prevent stains and etching. On the other hand, you don’t need to seal quartz and other engineered stone countertops since they aren’t porous.

You can’t change the color of the stone, but you can update granite countertops without replacing them by painting them. Because granite is a porous material, you’ll want to seal them first before painting them so that the paint doesn’t hurt the surface. This is important because you don’t want to devalue your counters by damaging the original surface; even if you don’t like the color now, you or a new homeowner may want to remove the paint someday and return them to their original color. You can also cover them with

Silestone® is a brand of quartz countertops; one isn’t necessarily better, but they have their differences. Silestone® costs slightly more than the average quartz countertop because you’re paying for the brand name and unique features. For example, Silestone® is often more sustainable than regular quartz because you can purchase varieties made with recycled materials. It also has antibacterial properties and design options some homeowners prefer. Plus, you can use it across your whole kitchen rather than solely for countertops.

Marble countertops don’t necessarily crack easily. However, they are more susceptible to damage than some other types of countertops. For example, they can develop etching from acidic liquids, such as lemon or tomato juice. Marble can also chip at the edges if you drop a heavy pan. A faux marble countertop isn’t as delicate as the real deal (depending on the material you’re painting over), but it can still get scratched if you’re not careful. Use hot pads and cutting boards to protect the countertop.

No, you cannot use vinegar to polish marble. It is too acidic for cleaning or polishing and can etch the surface. Instead, opt for non-acidic cleaners made specifically for marble. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to ensure proper application and to protect the marble. However, a damp mop can be an effective marble cleaner when used appropriately and as long as moisture is immediately soaked up.
