"Would highly recommend Ashia Tile & Marble. Alvin was great! Came out quickly to give me an estimate. He had to take out & replace a portion of the tile in the kitchen due to installing a new dishwasher. He was very helpful and very courteous. Such a nice, genuine person! He had to try & match the existing tile. Did a great job matching the tile. You can't even tell it is different. He also filled in where the grout had come out in other places in the kitchen. His response time was great. Would definitely hire him again!!"

"The owner showed up on time to discuss the project. I was impressed with him and we talked about what I wanted. I wanted the marble surface finished to get rid of the haze on it. He indicated that the best way to do so was to remove the top and take it to his shop. I didn't want to do that and he said he could help with polishing the top at my home and that it would look a lot better. The person he sent to do the job arrived late but was very nice. He set out to do the work and when he was finished he had re caulked the bathroom top. I have never seen such a fine job of caulking but, the surface didn't look any different. He said they would need to take the plumbing fixtures off to do any better. This was certainly not what I had in mind. I didn't expect to pay $300 for the counter to be recaulked. If he had told me that the top could not be improved I would have had another person give me an estimate and an opinion. They may do beautiful work with installing and cutting counter tops but I can't judge their work based on this experience"

"This post is being shared as a mode of recommending. Perfection Roofing and Home Repairs. As a general contractors, they were great coordinator and communicators, even taking great pride in making sure we were apprised of all decisions. We were surprised to learn their estimates were even cheaper than we had expected. The project cost, 22K was 5K less than another reputable competitor.Senior citizens approach projects carefully, especially when new faces are involved. We felt comfortable at all times. A humanitarian side story involved how they took great care not to upset our aged dog."

"The guy was really nice and on time. He was knowledgeable of the carpet issues we had. I just didn't like the style of cleaning. I now love the dry cleaning of my carpet and they don't give that service."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

You most likely purchased a quartz countertop because it won't stain or etch like marble. However, etching can still happen depending on the quality of the quartz and whether it is repeatedly cleaned with harsh chemicals or exposed to acidic spills. Remember, while quartz is more resistant than natural stone, just like Superman when faced with Kryptonite, it is not indestructible.

Engineered stone is known for its durability, lasting 15 to 20 years or longer. Of course, this range assumes high-quality materials and regular maintenance. After a couple of decades, the stone will start showing its age. Watch for discoloration, fading, stains, and burns, but it’s unlikely that engineered stone will experience structural failure.

Yes, a granite countertop can be cut in place. However, learning how to cut a granite countertop in place is a lot trickier than cutting granite in an open, well-ventilated space. You’ll also need to protect everything in the surrounding area (like your kitchen cabinets and appliances), but even that might not be enough to prevent dust from getting stuck in tight spots. If you absolutely must cut a granite countertop in place, consider hiring a pro to get the job done in the cleanest and safest way possible.

It typically costs $1.25 to $4 per linear foot to repair a granite countertop seam, though the costs will vary depending on whether you do it yourself or hire a pro. The costs will also depend on the extent of the seam and whether your countertops have any additional issues. Granite countertop repairs cost $200 to $1,200, depending on the problem.

Granite is heavier than quartz, since it has a higher density. Quartz is made up of engineered stone, which is why it tends to weigh less than granite. Most granite countertops are ¾-inch thick and weigh about 13 pounds per square foot.
