"Danzy did an excellent job of getting all pieces of the project done efficiently so I didn't have to go very long without full use of my kitchen. He answered my questions promptly. He also reinstalled my old faucet, saving me money. He was very kind as well."

"You wrote a review for Luxury Baths & Kitchens 3 minutes ago 5.0 star rating12/6/2023 I had an old cast iron tub and surround shower. I really wanted it all removed and a walk-in show installed. Chase came over and evaluated the project and worked with me to get what I wanted within my budget. Chris and Matt tore out the old tub and surround, put in backer board and replaced the feeder lines for the water the first day. They were timely and very neat. Chris and Matt returned the following day and installed a beautiful shower and even repaired the floor where the tub jutted out and the shower wouldn't cover. I had the needed floor sections. Everyone I worked with at Luxury Bath was wonderful and they followed up with my lifetime warrantee. I am extremely happy with my new shower and would recommend Luxury Bath & Kitchens to anyone that wants a professional, beautiful shower!"

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

Adding a shower to a half bath transforms it into a three-quarter bath. Compared to converting a half bath into a full bath, this type of conversion is a more affordable way to add functionality and accessibility. This project can add around 5% to 6% to the value of your home, especially if you only have one full bathroom or your only shower is on an upper level. This is a common upgrade for a ground floor when homeowners are hoping to age in place.

How much room you need for a roll-in shower depends on your goals and the specifications of your shower. Most roll-in showers require at least 60-by-30 inches of space, and at least 60-by-60 inches is best for comfort and maneuverability. When planning the size of your roll-in shower, consider your needs for comfort and additional installations, such as benches and grab bars, that can make the space tighter.

The decision between wainscoting and shiplap for your bathroom will depend on the end result you’re looking for. Shiplap covers the entire wall and can be used on ceilings. Wainscoting is installed on the lower third of the wall and acts as an accent. One major consideration is that shiplap has rabbets that create space between the boards where moisture and dust can hide. Since bathrooms are a high-moisture environment, you may want to opt for wainscotting.

While a bathroom vanity doesn't need to be flush with the side wall, it’s best to install it that way where possible. Achieving a flush fit can enhance aesthetics and create a cohesive look, plus it will help conceal and safeguard your plumbing. However, exceptions can be made based on design preferences and available space. Be sure that there’s sufficient clearance for drawers and cabinet doors to open comfortably. Additionally, consider factors like plumbing and room layout when deciding on the vanity's positioning relative to the side wall.

You can gut and remodel one room at a time. Though the project will take longer overall, there are a few benefits. First, it limits disruptions and allows homeowners to maintain access to a portion of their home while it’s under construction. It also helps homeowners manage their budgets. Not everyone is ready to remodel the whole house at once, and it may be more feasible to slowly upgrade your home over time.
