"I've been putting off leaving a negative review. I prefer to work it out with the owner. I tried that and he refused. I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee L for the rv tow kit to him. His technician installed it and was in a hurry to leave, and didn't tell us how it worked. Jim called the manufacturer and gave us the basics for use. Pulling out of his establishment, the brakes locked up on the jeep giving us flat spots on the new tires. I disconnected the kit and later did the research to use it on my own. A year later we actually used the tow bar and kit and found that the battery on the jeep was dying everytime. When we came back to the area, we brought the jeep in and explained the issue, the technician blamed it on the cord being wired incorrectly and charged us over $100 to "rewire" the cord. The next year, we had a catastrophic failure of the towbar causing the Jeep to partially break free and impact our rv. I called the towbar manufacturer and exchanged pictures and emails, and they determined that it was installed incorrectly. I then called Jim Campens and tried to talk with him, but was told he wasn't available, I left a number, and never recieved a return call. When we returned to the area, I went in and spoke with the lady behind the counter, (who was always very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful), and explained what had happened, gave her the emails, pictures, and determination from Roadmaster that it was the installation technicians error that caused the failure. I recieved a call from her a few days later stating that Jim didn't feel it was his responsibility to cover the damages. I expressed my disappointment and asked her to remind him that I am not asking for reparations that a court, or dealership would ask, but enough to cover my cost to repair the damage myself. An amount that was a small fraction of either of those amounts. I have never recieved any correspondence back. This is far from professional, or reputable behavior. Moreover, the service performed was clearly inferior, and I will have to have someone verify the rest of the work to ensure it is correct. Horrible service! (Except for the lady behind the counter, she was amazing, if I wasn't retired, I'd start a company and hire her!)"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Whether salt melts ice overnight will depend on how low the temperature drops. If temperatures stay around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, you can count on salt melting ice overnight. Otherwise, the lower temperatures get, the less effective the salt is in melting ice, and the more likely you’ll wake up with a slippery driveway the next day.

If a big freeze catches you by surprise and you don’t have any deicer to hand, you can reduce the chance of taking a tumble by laying gritty, anti-slip materials. Some natural, readily-available options that don’t melt ice but offer traction underfoot include sand, wood shavings, kitty litter, and fireplace ash.

While most people associate defrosting icy roads with salt, you can also use sugar for a similar result. Sugar lowers the freezing point of water, melting ice in a pinch.

However, sugar doesn’t melt ice as well as salt because it doesn’t separate the water molecules as efficiently. So, if you need to quickly melt a stubborn patch of ice on your driveway or walkway, it’s best to use salt over sugar for faster results.

Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.

Natural ice melts can often get the job done without damaging concrete. You can try non-corrosive options such as kitty litter, alfalfa meal, coffee grounds, sugar beet juice, and heated snow-melting mats. While they may cause some staining, these natural melts are safe for concrete, pets, and the environment.
