"Sticking point was miscommunication during sales. onsite guy said they didn't replace fence boards. Later HQ called to find out why I hadn't moved ahead. I had already selected another provider who could do all three. HQ said they could have done. Their loss. Loved the guys I ended up using."

"Andino Paining has a Network of other excellent subcontractors that Cenia can call on to go well beyond her expertise of painting. She works with carpenters Gutter hangers, sheet rock hangers, etc to do a variety of work. This is what she did at my residence. It worked out great. Would recommend Cenia to anyone. "Henry and his crew are beyond courteous, professional, and pay precise attention to detail. I originally hired H and M to stain my fence but had another emergency that Henry also ended up taking on. First, the fence stain looks GREAT. The team power washed the fence clean of debris, then returned after it was dry to apply the stain. They used the proper staining technique and paid specific attention to detail. They wrapped all items near the fence that could not be moved to protect it from unwanted stain. The job is VERY clean and neat and the fence looks great! I was offered a variety of stains and Henry helped me with any questions I had. In addition, I also had to have my door replaced. Henry was not originally scheduled to do this but politely agreed when he saw my need. He replaced the entire door and frame, including trim and paint. The paint job was VERY neat and professional and the trim replacement and caulking make it look seamless. I cannot express how grateful I am for their quick reply in my time of need and their keen attention to detail no matter what task they are given. I cannot recommend these guys enough! I have found my go-to contractor. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and overall outgoing personalities set them high above anyone else."

"Our house is two stories tall and since I turned 70 years old, I do not climb ladders as well as I once did. Our rain gutters were overflowing so I reached out to Will's Home Service. Quick response and very personal over the phone. Will and Angel arrived spot on time and performed the job quickly and efficiently for a more than fair price. Will and his company are now my go to for all my projects when I need any 'handyman' services. If you need a great guy with great service and fair prices you need to contact Will's Remodeling! You will be glad you did!"

"Highly recommend. I had several repairs needed around my house. Gault met with me within one day, carefully reviewed all of my items, and provided thoughtful perspectives. I expressed that one repair was particularly urgent and Gault worked with me to have the work performed the very next day. The work was done with very high quality and professionalism. I am very satisfied and look forward to potential future engagements. The urgent work we had done was replacing a load bearing 6x6 leg on my screened-in porch."

"Handyman Connection of Knightdale called me the next morning to make an appointment. In addition, when I left a message with a question, I was called back within one business day. Jake the owner came to my home and gave me an estimate cost within 3 days. I didn't check other installers for an estimate since the cost was reasonable. The installer was experience and installed my double storm door with a frame build out and did a quality job. I always get compliments on my storm doors when I am outside in the front yard."

"They assisted in making our home more handicapped accessible; this included installing grab bars, small modifications and building a ramp to access the front door. The work was done on time and at the price quoted. The worker did a great job, he checked in with us to make sure he was doing the work the way we wanted and he completely cleaned up the work site when finished. We were very happy with the work done."

"We hired Christian to redo our deck and it was an INCREDIBLE experience. We had some unexpected additional repairs (rotted wood) along the way that he communicated through and we got it done! we had a tight deadline and he crushed it. The deck is beautiful and well made and he went above and beyond with other things we needed (hauling and screening our porch). I 12/10 recommend him for any building or repair projects. He will be helping us with our property from here on out!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

If the bowing basement wall is less than 2 inches, steel or carbon fiber straps are the best solution. For bowing that is more than 2 inches, wall anchors are the most effective. A contractor can help you decide the best method of repair for your home's foundation and also address the root cause of the trouble.

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

Stick frames, metal frames, or prefabricated concrete frames are included in framing a house, along with creating the framework and space for windows, doors, and entryways. Other aspects of developing a home—like drywall, insulation, windows, doors, and more—are not included in the cost to frame a house.
