"Very pleased with the work and look. Very satisfied overall. The estimator and supervisor Alex was very attentive, prompt and willing to answer any and all questions I had. The two carpenters in particular who did the majority of the work were excellent. Only complaint is minor as perhaps they could have cleaned up better when work was finished as we found many plastic labels that came off the ends of the new deck boards as well as a few random nails. Again a very minor complaint."

Small jobs welcome

"Hire this man already. I have had so many nightmare stories dealing with other so called handymen but Allen really knows his stuff. He did the jobs as requested didn't waste time was very friendly, efficient, and tidy. I read a lot of the reviews on here prior to hiring him and I will say I read a few saying something about him being pricey so that did make me nervous. I will say the people writing that probably haven't had quality work done very recently because his prices are very fair for the work he does. I"

"Mr. Register and his team did a fantastic job building my new deck. They handled everything—from removing and disposing of the old deck to leaving the job site spotless. I was especially impressed that they kept working through the rain to stay on schedule. I highly recommend Register's Repair Service and fully intend to hire them again for future projects. Give them a call—you won’t be disappointed."

"We are blessed to have found John! The job he did for us is second to no one I've ever hired. He painted our entire two floor house, including trims and closets with absolute precision and professional beyond any work I've seen. I have owned two other homes over the years and have hired others for the same work. John surpasses any other painter we have hired. He took his time and always professional and polite. The cost of this large job was more than reasonable. We appreciate you John and thanks for EVERYTHING ?"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

Framing a house with steel generally takes less time—around five to eight weeks—than most building materials. The steel components can also be made quickly off-site and manufactured with pre-punched holes for running piping and electrical wiring, which will lessen the prep work and extra labor during construction.

New builds, remodels, and additions often necessitate professional framing expertise.

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.
