"Andino Paining has a Network of other excellent subcontractors that Cenia can call on to go well beyond her expertise of painting. She works with carpenters Gutter hangers, sheet rock hangers, etc to do a variety of work. This is what she did at my residence. It worked out great. Would recommend Cenia to anyone. "I chose MDF to replace a poorly built set of steps to a 12' high deck. He came out the day I contacted him and gave me a very reasonable quote. The steps needed to have a landing included which he was experienced building. He started the project as promised and worked long hours to complete. The quality was exceptional. I plan to use him to fix my deck, fence and do some interior projects. Would highly recommend."

Small jobs welcome

"I would recommend Jose Suarez to anyone who needs a job done well. He repaired some boards on our deck and painted the entire deck and railings. Also he installed a pull-out trash can assembly in our kitchen. Jose is very knowledgeable, efficient, prompt, and meticulous with his work no matter what the job may be. I will definitely be hiring Jose for any future carpentry work or remodeling. Thank You Jose!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

House framing can be expensive because the materials are pricey, and the job requires a high level of expertise. The more complex the plans, the more expensive the job, but even the most basic frame needs to be installed with high-quality materials and precision. When pricing your home’s framework, remember that a sturdy frame is necessary to create a safe structure.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

A cross brace for a fence gate should stretch from the top corner of the gate’s hinge side to the bottom corner of its latch side at a 45-degree angle to the bottom of the gate. This positioning distributes the bulk of the gate’s weight to the base of the post, taking pressure off the top hinge.
