"They did a good job and followed up quickly to install a riser. Good service at a good price. BUT... I was a bit skeptical of their recommendation for a new filter and expensive turbo cleaning of the septic field/components. I declined the recommendation. The septic field isn't showing any signs of a problem (soggy/soft ground). I might regret it, but I suspect they were needlessly upselling me."

"We called Forever Clean to pump our septic tank. Then previous homeowner hadn’t touched it in 28 years. In fact, they didn’t even know where the septic tank was so Forever Clean had to find the tank. They did so, with some effort. Took about an hour and lots of poking and digging. They were able to pump the 28 year old tank which provided us with peace of mind. We will have Forever Clean on our schedule for regular maintenance in the future!"

Septic System - Install or Replace

"I would recommend this company to fix any septic tank repair or install. Ricky and company were knowledgeable, hard working, and answered my numerous questions. He replaced a pipe that had split during the 36 years since the system was installed. It took about 3.5 hours because my septic tank had not been pumped in 36 years had to be done. Ricky had that taken care of. However, my yard was a mess afterwards and still is. Ricky told me the clay would sink when it rained. Sink it did. Where the initial hole was sunk six inches. The entire area sunk four inches and when I went out there today to put soil on the dug up area, I sunk at least two inches just walking on it. I put 150 quarts of soil out today and will probably need the same amount to complete the fix. Planning to get another 150 quarts tomorrow and sew the grass seed. Already had the bail of straw."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

You should never park or drive on top of a septic field. Vehicles can weigh upwards of two tons, and this weight can put a lot of pressure on the leach lines in the drain field. Too much pressure on your leach lines may cause them to warp, crack, or completely burst. This is an expensive and very avoidable problem.

Start by finding the septic tank, marked by an access lid near your home. From there, the drain field extends outward in a series of trenches. Look for greener, lusher grass, as drain fields promote plant growth due to moisture and fertilizer. You can also check property records, use a soil probe to detect damp soil, or hire a septic professional with ground-penetrating radar equipment to map the drain field’s location.

Your drain field or leach field should be 1 to 3 feet under the ground. It will be a little shallower than the septic tank, although it can be the same depth or slightly deeper. The proper depth of the septic tank is up to 4 feet. It’s possible that your local regulatory agency requires a certain depth for your drain field.

Yes, septic tank companies must be licensed in most states and municipalities to perform services like installation, alteration, repair, and pumping. Since laws vary by location, it's crucial to check local requirements.

Hiring an unlicensed professional can lead to poor work, code violations, and significant fines. Always verify that your chosen company is properly licensed and fully insured to avoid liability. You can use tools like Angi’s contractor licensing search to check a pro's credentials.

It's also helpful to understand the difference between licensing and certification. A license is a legal requirement to operate, while certifications are voluntary. Credentials like the “Angi Approved” badge indicate that a business meets extra standards, such as passing a background check and maintaining a high rating.

Well water is often assumed to be hard because of its high mineral content. Hard water can lead to mineral build-up in your pipes and appliances. You can manage hard water by installing a whole-house filter system. These systems can help extend the life of your water-reliant appliances like your hot water tank and dishwasher.
