"They are far overpriced from all other companies. They charged extra for every single thing .. to dig up the septic lids...to use an air blower... for extra hose.. They pumped the septic then realized this didnt clear the drain line therefore charged extra to use another tool to clear it. $600 for a pump seems unreasonable."

"Eddie was fantastic.  He quickly and efficiently installed my new garbage disposal and kitchen faucet.  He left the place neat as a pin.  He was helpful and courteous.  Scheduling the service was terrific too.  The scheduler was very helpful.  I am very pleased and will be having Eddie back to install a new toilet.  Excellent Service!!!!

"It was beyond perfect. Even the cabinet installers were impressed with their quality and workmanship. Odd edges were perfectly ground with little cuts  and curves. The granite was beautiful and we picked the slab we wanted from thousands of colors and designs!  Teri was very special and answered every question and was in constant contact on the progress. Angie's List gave us a great savings with the free 40/60 stainless sink.

"Mr. Nate answered my call promptly and came to look at the job and measure for the new door the very next day. He was so nice to pickup materials for us. "Tim promptly returned my call and set up a time to give me an estimate. He was on time, and called me that afternoon with his estimate. He then sent me a contract by mail. Russ came out and did the work. He was on time and did a very good job. He is a pleasant family man. Our vanities were late arriving and he made two extra trips for installation. These guys are very busy, but were worth the wait."

"Originally used for commercial property to install 2 pedicure chairs and hand sink with vanity. Brian inspected underneath and was hesitant due to poor work of previous plumbers on the property with high overturn. He still accepted the job and worked diligently. Brian is very much the person to “get the job done.” Once he arrives on scene he doesn’t like to leave until the job is done and done PROPERLY. He let us know there was a rusted galvanized joint. The parts were back in Charlotte when the property was in Gastonia. Very next morning Brian picked up the material and diligently fixed the extra issues as well as finish the original job. Time line from accepting the job, pulling the permit, all material picked up/installed, passed inspection all in 8 days from start to finish. Highly recommend for all jobs and will make a point to use for all commercial and residential jobs in the future."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

Whether it's worth repairing your garbage disposal depends on its age and the specific problem. Generally, if the unit is eight years old or younger, repair is a good option. For minor issues like a bad seal or a simple jam, a repair can be inexpensive, sometimes under $10. However, if the motor is broken (a repair that can cost $150 or more) or the unit is getting old, it's often more cost-effective to replace the entire disposal.

It’s one thing that helps, alongside vinegar and baking soda. Ice acts as an exfoliant, helping to lift off any bits of food stuck on the disposal blades.

To prevent drain clogs, perform regular maintenance and cleaning. Avoid disposing of substances like grease or coffee grounds down the sink. Additionally, installing and routinely using drain strainers can help catch debris and prevent blockages from forming.

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.
