"My water old softener was not functioning. They came and looked at it and said it was probably not fixable . They offered to take the control unit back to their office and maybe they could fix it. They were more enthusiastic about selling me a new system . They offered to give me a price break if I purchased a new system within a certain time frame. I told them I would consider it. Fortunately I was able to find another repair person who fixed the unit on site by replacing a few gaskets and a piston. It only took half an hour. Their trip fee was less than Progressiveâ s and thatâ s all it cost me to get my softener fixed. I am updating my review because the owner of the company contacted me and apologized for their inability to fix my water softener. He also sent me a check for a full refund of their trip fee."

"I was visiting my mom when Chris arrived. I live in Florida. His professionalism, courtesy, and workmanship was excellent. The water leakage problem under the kitchen sink was resolved at no additional cost. In addition, he provided some insight into resolving a clogged bathroom sink and offered to be the primary repairman for any plumbing issues for my mother. I was impressed with how he explained to my mom the problem and how he fixed it. I feel very confident that Chris corrected the drainage problem as this was the third visit to my mom's house. Thank so much Chris for your help. Elouise's son, Charles"

"We got a water softener installed when we moved in 2 years ago and they showed up when promised and did a great job installing it and explaining the machine to us. During a winter freeze we had a piece break and they quickly came out to replace it for free under the warranty. Great work and great customer service."
Purologix MaxPack Whole House Point of Entry 5-Stage Conditioner and Point of Use High Efficiency Reverse Osmosis Purification System.
Patented tank design allows us to create a 5-stage process inside a single, extra wide tank resulting in a very compact and complete treatment process. There is no better City Water Treatment available for a typical homeowner.
No water system is handsome or a work of art, and most look like scuba gear or gas cylinders. However, our WaterMax is different, and the Signature Series styling is as aesthetic as it gets in the Water Treatment Industry. More importantly is what is inside that counts, and our 5-stage process is unmatched without installing multiple filters, and fiberglass tanks in series. More connections, more upkeep, more salt, more water, more filters, more money. Talk to us about our efficiency.

"Tim did a great job with the replacement of our water heater. Even though it was the day after Thanksgiving he moved some of his other appointments around to come to our home that afternoon. Tim and his assistant were careful to put on shoe covers in the house and to observe COVID 19 precautions. The job required more complicated plumbing since we have a desuperheater loop from our geothermal heat pump that connects to the water heater; the additional charge for this work was minimal. Tim was here until after 5:00 that evening, with the result that we had hot water over the weekend."

"They did a good job quickly. I felt they could have done a "better" job. They should have informed me up front that a 39 yr old house may need new wiring for the hot water heater's today. When cutting holes through 5/8" sheetrock, they could have cut perfect squares, so the holes could be easily patched when they were finished. The water shut off valve for the house had to be re-routed, as it was not accessible. The new hot water heater was wider than the old one, blocking access to the water shut off valve. All things considered, I spent over $800 more than expected.....which is why I rated them a 4 and not a 5."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Routine maintenance involves recharging the resin bed with salt or potassium, cleaning components, and periodic inspection.

Drinking hard water is not known to have any negative health impacts. Using hard water can lead to dry skin and hair, and the minerals in hard water can build up in pipes, faucets, and appliances. Hard water is more of a threat to your plumbing than it is to your health.

A water softener is a worthwhile investment if you live in an area with hard water. While hard water is safe to drink, it contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can cause significant problems over time. These minerals build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and eventually corroding the plumbing system, which can lead to leaks and a shortened lifespan. Hard water also damages fixtures and appliances, potentially resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, it makes soaps and detergents less effective, meaning you'll use more product to get things clean. By installing a water softener, you can prevent these issues. The initial investment is often recouped through long-term savings, including lower energy bills, reduced appliance and plumbing maintenance, and spending less on soap and cleaning supplies. Other benefits include cleaner linens, dishes, and clothing, as well as softer water that is gentler on your skin and hair. In some areas, a water softener can also increase your home's value, making it a valuable long-term investment.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.

Soft water is better for your hair. The minerals in hard water can dry out hair, make it brittle, and leave a film on the hair and scalp that may cause irritation. Hard water also doesn't rinse out shampoo and conditioner effectively, which can lead to product buildup that makes hair look dull and limp. You may also find you need to use more shampoo to get a good lather in hard water.
