"Estimate was quickly provided and job was done within estimate range. Installers were very knowledgeable and had quite a bit of experience with whole-home systems. They arrived on time and took the necessary time to do the install the correct way. Would highly recommend."

"Rooter & Sons Plumbing provided prompt, responsive, excellent work. We needed to replace a failing Apollo water heater (manufacturer out of business) that provided hot water for both domestic use and forced air heating. Chad (the owner, who came to the job site and checked the completed work), and his plumbers, Eric and John, went well beyond the minimum, finding the best compatible replacement, installing it within 24 hours and identifying and replumbing, as part of the job, work on the piping and valves leading to and from the unit that had been poorly done by prior plumbers. The Rooter guys were easy to contact and to work with. I certainly would hire them again -- and I subsequently have, with the same excellent results and high satisfaction. (When trying to decide who to hire for the job, I was put off, at first, by the company name, which does not covey the scope of their experience and capabilities. They're really nice skilled, full service plumbers; thus the string of 5 star reviews they get from their customers.)"

"The representative from Modern Plumbing took pictures, explained possible sources and how to figure out the source from use. Once the source was found, described the repair and had it done in 20 minutes with a minimum of fuss. Very impressed with the detailed explanation throughout this issue. FYI, this was done via my Home Warranty, so the cost is not indicative of the actual charges."

"Billy, from Devlin's specializing in finding leaks! We had the contractor and the plumbing service that installed our master bathroom come and find a leak that was affecting our main floor guest room below.  After 1 week, removing ceiling dry wall and $1,300 later, they couldn't find the leak.  When I called Devlin, they sent Billy because he knows his way around leaks.  Billy took a look around for about 5mins and figured it out  - he is the best!!!  Professionally sealed the area and done in about 30mins, clean and professional."

"They had an emergency with one of their contracts, so they offered to give us a price break if we rescheduled the installation.  They did say they would come at the original time, but we decided to take the price break. The installation went well, advice was given on how to keep the water heater working, and we have hot water.

"There was a section of vinyl caulk that was installed between the backsplash and the counter. The caulk was old and deteriorated and became dis colored and did not cure. Since the problem was caused by the initial installation, Granite Transformation should have corrected the work under warantee. In fact, they want to charge me a service call. Since they did not stand behind their work, I would not recommend them. I had to call them back to repair plumbing problems, They failed to plug in the refrigerator completely. Beautiful job, but for &7,000 they should stand behind their work

"Sales personnel helpful, not too pushy. Installers prompt, pleasant. Left everything neat and clean. Great job on bathrooms. However, I had tile floors installed in both bathrooms. Installer obviously did not know how to install tile floors. Floors not finished under cabinets. (Out of sight, out of mind?) Tile not even, not level. Grout too low. One bathroom regrouted within a week. It has been one year this month and bathroom #2 is in desperate need of regrouting. Pieces of grout fell out within the first month or so. I would highly recommend them for bathroom renovations. Surrounds are very easy to clean/maintain. Cabinets are nice. Workmanship was excellent (except floors). If having a tile floor installed, be sure to ask for someone with tile experience and be sure to actually watch the entire floor installation."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

If your sink is on an exterior wall that isn’t insulated, or if pipes travel through a cabinet against an exterior wall that prevents heated air from circulating around the pipes, the pipes can freeze, causing them to burst. The best way to avoid leaking sinks is to insulate the pipes and open cabinets in the short term to warm the water line up and prevent freezing.

Due to the exposed plumbing, pedestal sinks are more challenging to install than traditional closed vanities. Pedestal sinks may also require additional floor and wall support or demolition. However, if you have the correct plumbing in place, then installing a pedestal sink is pretty straightforward and can be completed in a day. However, it’s best to hire a professional sink installer to ensure it’s done correctly.

Yes, it is often possible to replace an undermount sink without removing the countertop, but success can depend on the countertop material. For materials like granite, the process is relatively straightforward. However, laminate or uniquely shaped countertops might need to be removed or modified.

The process typically involves shutting off the water supply, disconnecting the drain and plumbing pipes, cutting through the old silicone seal, and carefully lowering the sink from below. This requires a good understanding of plumbing and the right tools. If you are not confident in performing the replacement yourself, it is recommended to hire a countertop specialist or a plumber to handle the task.

The best material to use will depend on your budget and style goals. Fireclay is a great choice but is expensive and heavy. Stainless steel is less expensive and more durable, but lacks the wow factor a clay sink might. Copper is very expensive but lasts a long time and has a striking appearance. Those looking for an industrial look can go with concrete, or those looking for a classic design might choose porcelain.

Most faucets come with a rubber or plastic gasket that prevents leaks—but that’s not always the case. If your faucet doesn’t come with a gasket or it’s leaking, use a caulk gun to seal the gaps and prevent water damage.
