"The representative from Modern Plumbing took pictures, explained possible sources and how to figure out the source from use. Once the source was found, described the repair and had it done in 20 minutes with a minimum of fuss. Very impressed with the detailed explanation throughout this issue. FYI, this was done via my Home Warranty, so the cost is not indicative of the actual charges."

"Never returned three calls after leaving message on 11/11/2013, 11/13/2013, and 11/21/2013, that we needed either a new hot water heater or tankless hot water system installed.

Update: return phone call on 11/22/2013-- see note above. This resulted in a change to my evaluation from F to C overall.

"Tim did a great job with the replacement of our water heater. Even though it was the day after Thanksgiving he moved some of his other appointments around to come to our home that afternoon. Tim and his assistant were careful to put on shoe covers in the house and to observe COVID 19 precautions. The job required more complicated plumbing since we have a desuperheater loop from our geothermal heat pump that connects to the water heater; the additional charge for this work was minimal. Tim was here until after 5:00 that evening, with the result that we had hot water over the weekend."

"They did a great job. In about 10 minutes, they had the old faucet taken out and the new one put in. They cleaned it all up when they were done. Even the price they charged was the most reasonable I have heard of. He had a really pleasant personality and it was a wonderful experience all around. I would highly recommend them and I would definitely hire them again."

"There was a section of vinyl caulk that was installed between the backsplash and the counter. The caulk was old and deteriorated and became dis colored and did not cure. Since the problem was caused by the initial installation, Granite Transformation should have corrected the work under warantee. In fact, they want to charge me a service call. Since they did not stand behind their work, I would not recommend them. I had to call them back to repair plumbing problems, They failed to plug in the refrigerator completely. Beautiful job, but for &7,000 they should stand behind their work

"Sales personnel helpful, not too pushy. Installers prompt, pleasant. Left everything neat and clean. Great job on bathrooms. However, I had tile floors installed in both bathrooms. Installer obviously did not know how to install tile floors. Floors not finished under cabinets. (Out of sight, out of mind?) Tile not even, not level. Grout too low. One bathroom regrouted within a week. It has been one year this month and bathroom #2 is in desperate need of regrouting. Pieces of grout fell out within the first month or so. I would highly recommend them for bathroom renovations. Surrounds are very easy to clean/maintain. Cabinets are nice. Workmanship was excellent (except floors). If having a tile floor installed, be sure to ask for someone with tile experience and be sure to actually watch the entire floor installation."

"I purchased a water heater from Home Depot and asked for an installation estimate. They pointed to a posted sign near the water heaters and discussed with me that my specific type of installation (crawlspace,  electric water heater) should run about $197, might vary slightly.  Great, sign me up, can you do it tomorrow ? Sure. The contractor will  call you in the morning to give you a final solid price. The contractor  called in the morning and gave me my price $393. Hmmm, what happened to  $197 ? That is twice what I was lead to believe at Home Depot.
At this point I had lost confidence in Home Depot I was not sure that  $393 wouldn?t turn into $593. I started calling local contractors from Angie?s List. As it turns out $393 was about down the middle of the  prices I was quoted. ($350 to $450). However, I live in a fairly small  town, I decided to spend my money with a local plumber. (The Home Depot  contractor called me from Atlanta, GA to set up an installation in  Fuquay Varina, NC.)
After calling several well rated plumbers from Angie?s list, I had gotten the following types of responses:
1. Ring, no answer, no answering machine.
2. Left message, no return call. (still have not received returned call 24 hours later)
3. ?Our office is closed, please call back during business hours? (at 9:00 am on a Friday morning.)
4. ?Yea, it?ll be about $450.
I then called Tommy Allen Plumbing around 9:00 am on a Friday morning.  Tommy answered the phone asked a few questions about the installation type and what I needed. He asked where I was located, when I told him the street name ?oh, yea, I know where that?s at, I just came from the neighborhood ½ mile up the road.? At this point, I know I have a local guy who lives in the area and is part of the community. Price $350, yea, I can come do it after lunch. Ok, see you then.
Tommy and his helper showed up promptly as expected, was personable and did a good job. He had to replace the inlet shut-off valve going to the  water heater as it started leaking when he turned the water off. No extra charge for that. He was in and out in a couple of hours and hauled off the old water heater. Price ?. $350. What ? No extra charges for anything ? Your price came in at EXACTLY what you told me ? How  refreshing !
I give Tommy Allen Plumbing a A- rating. The only thing I can possibly ding him for is; he left a big stain of rusted water at the end of my driveway where he sat the old water heater prior to loading it into  his truck. Truly a small detail in the scope of getting this heater replaced. Hopefully this will be gone with the next good rain. I will  definitely call Tommy for all of my plumbing needs in the future.

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

It is best practice to hire a plumber to install a bathroom sink and vanity. Even simple installations require basic plumbing work, such as connecting water supply lines and attaching the sink to the drainage system. While an experienced DIYer might manage a straightforward setup, any complex work, like modifying existing plumbing or installing new lines, should always be left to a licensed plumber to avoid the risk of expensive water damage. In most cases, a plumber will handle the installation, provided it is a straightforward job that does not require custom carpentry. It's important to outline your expectations with the plumber beforehand to confirm they can handle the full project.

No, you don’t need to use plumber’s putty to install a sink drain. Other options are available, such as silicone putty or silicone caulk. Plumber’s putty is the traditional method and it’s easier to work with and easier to remove. It doesn’t need to dry before using. Silicone putty should dry before you use the drain.

Yes, it is often possible to replace an undermount sink without removing the countertop, but success can depend on the countertop material. For materials like granite, the process is relatively straightforward. However, laminate or uniquely shaped countertops might need to be removed or modified.

The process typically involves shutting off the water supply, disconnecting the drain and plumbing pipes, cutting through the old silicone seal, and carefully lowering the sink from below. This requires a good understanding of plumbing and the right tools. If you are not confident in performing the replacement yourself, it is recommended to hire a countertop specialist or a plumber to handle the task.

Some of the most common plumbing problems in mobile homes are frozen pipes, leaking pipes, clogged drains, and low pressure. Since the pipes in a mobile home aren’t as insulated as those in a standard build, they’re more susceptible to fluctuating temperatures and damage.

Vanities may come with a countertop and sink but won’t include faucets. You’ll need to purchase your faucets separately from a home improvement or hardware store. When shopping for a fixture, you’ll have plenty of bathroom faucet types to choose from. Think about your vanity and bathroom aesthetics and what you need when deciding. Single-handle and centerset faucets work well in any space, while widespread, bridge, and wall-mount fixtures work in modern bathrooms.
