"Danzy and his team (Sheldon) went above and beyond to make us happy and satisfied with their services. Besides building us a high quality shed under our house, we asked for other projects we had lined up and they were happy to help us make best decisions and get the job done. They are super nice to work with and extremely professional."

"I originally called for closet door repair, which went perfectly. As he was leaving I asked about the possible repair of an outside pole repair on my front porch. He was also able to fix that in the same visit. I was very pleased and will definitely be using his business for future repairs."

"Leon Home Repairs did an excellent job. They repaired the areas damaged by fire then doubled the storage space of our shed with an addition on the back of the original shed, even installing a roll up garage door. We had Hardy Board siding and shingles on the roof. They did excellent work. They were prompt, polite, dependable, thorough, easy to work with. They did the job for the agreed upon cost. They worked hard and put in long days to get the job finished on schedule. We were extremely happy with them and would highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"The jobs were straight forward and the work was well done.  There was a more complicated, more expensive way and a lower cost more direct way to do the door frame job.  Mr Handyman pointed this out and assured that the simpler solution was perfectly effective.  He was right, and the door frame issue seems to be solved, happily.  This was a confidence-builder for me, and I am likely to call Mr Handyman again.  Thanks Steve!

Customers say: Super punctual

"Used the painting services of this vendor to finish caulking and painting new overhangs and pennice roofs on our horse barn. They also stained several hundred feet of existing 3-board wood horse fencing and painted the metal fencing on our arena. These guys were awesome! Not only were they friendly and professional, but they did a great job on everything! They pressure washed all the wood and metal fencing ensuring all prep work was done correctly before starting to paint/stain. The end result was a job done well. I will definitely call these guys back for future work!!!"

"John reinstalled the cabinets properly due to a botched job by a "pseudo" installer who had previously installed them wrong. John made sure the job was done properly and was prompt and cordial in starting and completing the project. He kept us informed and explained and showed what he had to do to get them up correctly. Great job John."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

While prices fluctuate because of increased demand, fewer supplies, and engineering time, OSB generally remains more affordable than plywood at $1 to $2.40 per square foot compared to the $4.50 to $10 for plywood. Cost is only one factor you should consider when deciding between OSB and plywood.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.

In the U.S., original and converted carriage houses are most often found in New England, New York, and other parts of the Northeast. New construction carriage houses can be found across the country, and are often added to properties with Colonial-style homes for additional living, storage, or work space, although they can be found in many different styles.

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

The best lumber for building will be the strongest and most eco-friendly wood your budget allows. That being said, Douglas fir, pine, oak, and maple are all common building materials. Contractors will use a strong, inexpensive wood to frame a house or other structure and finer woods like mahogany for detail work.
