"My chest freezer broke down and I did not want to buy a new one since I could not afford the same size. I reached out to appliance parts pro and they were confident that what I ordered would fix my problem. $200 in parts later and I now have a broken freezer on my porch and am still paying the loan to this terrible company. They just want you to order parts and try them because they know you can't return them. I hate this company with every fiber of my being and will make sure that anyone that has a broken appliance will not use them. To top it off, their site is so screwed up that it give you an error trying to log back in. I ended up having to create THREE different accounts because every time I went to place a new order, it would not let me login and it would not send a password reset email. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF."

"The original installation went great. The unit was put in successfully and was working wonderfully. Unfortunately after about a year it began acting up and was not working properly. We called Mr. Gary from Affordable Quality Air and he fixed the problem. However, we began having issues again about 2 months ago and it felt as if we had no ac in our house at all. We noticed that our outside unit had frozen over and called Mr. Gary to come look at it, but he could not come until a day or two later, which was fine. He came out to our house and said he looked over things and nothing seemed to be wrong and that he couldn't do anything to help unless the unit was frozen while he was there; which at this point it had thawed out because we turned the air off in order to do so. He said to have our ducts checked and left. The unit froze up again a day later and the air stopped working again. We turned the unit off and the inside unit began leaking water as if it was thawing out too. So much water that it was all in our hallway. After letting it thaw out our has started working again and we can actually feel it. However, our hallways unit is still continuously leaking water. A lot of it and it probably won't be long until it stops again. We called Mr. Gary and asked him to please come out again to check it out. He stated that we were too far away to just drive over and check it and that the service warranty was up so he did not owe us any service. We called again and told him he needed to come out because something is obviously wrong and he proceeded to tell us that his service was not under warranty, he was not coming to our house to help and then upon us telling him we would take action if he did not try to make this situation right (i.e. A negative review) he told us to go ahead. I find this behavior extremely unprofessional no matter what the circumstance warranty or not. However, Mr. Gary was very much wrong in assuming that our 2 year service warranty was up because it in fact does not expire until 09/28/18 which is not for almost 2 months (we still have our signed contract with the dates included). Now we will be paying more money out of our pockets to get someone else to come assess the situation whenever we should be having it done for just a service fee. Unfortunately the good service that we first received is being overshadowed by the poor service and treatment we have recently received."

2008 years of experience

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

Many people find switching from an electric stove to a gas stove well worth the hassle. After all, gas stoves last up to 15 years, whereas most electric stoves only last up to 13 years. Plus, the sentiment and joy of cooking over a real fire is indeed irreplaceable—and offers more precise temperature controls than electric cooktops. The cost of converting an electric cooktop to a gas stove depends on whether your kitchen already has gas supplies, and the cost can range from $125 to $2,000. Also, make sure your new stove’s dimensions match the old one.

If you do not perform proper, regular maintenance, your oven's life span will be shortened. Make sure to thoroughly clean your oven regularly, including coils, ranges, and other parts. In addition, use the self-cleaning mode sparingly; it’s hard on your appliance. When you do use it, carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

While frequent or costly repairs may make you think about replacing your appliance, other signs to replace an appliance include unusual noises and high utility bills. But also keep an eye (and nose) out for more dangerous signs, such as a sparking microwave, a smoking oven, or a leaking fridge. Appliances that spark, smoke, smell foul or burnt, or are leaking may mean that there are broken parts, and this brings higher risk of fire, shock, and water damage.

Appliance installation costs around $200 on average, and most installations total between $75 and $600. Some cost factors to consider that can increase your price toward the higher end of that range include the following:

  • You need to pay for long-distance delivery.

  • Your installers need to maneuver up or down stairs or around tight corners.

  • Your appliance needs to be connected to a natural gas line or water line.

  • Your appliance requires extra parts for a proper connection, like an ice maker hook-up kit.

  • Your appliance is oversized.

Yes, advising on models that save electricity and reduce utility bills.
