"I was in desperate need of someone to replace a very old deck, one that was originally constructed to partially wrap around my koi pond, and I knew it would be quite a difficult job to take on. So I contacted Angie.😊 and I was contacted by Jay Wilson. Upon meeting with Mr. Wilson, I was very impressed with his professionalism and apparent abilities, his many 5-star reviews from clients, and the fee he quoted for the work was more than fair. Additionally, after talking over with him as to what I was imagining the change to be, I was convinced he would do a fabulous job for me, and he absolutely did so much more… It is exactly as I imagined, and I couldn’t be more pleased!! He and his associate, Robert, were a pleasure to work with, and I would recommend them to anyone… I will surely be calling on them again for help."

"Jimmy came the day after we talked and gave us a very reasonable quote. He finished the job, doing everything we asked, and the only delay was rain on the day he planned to paint the exterior."

"Mr. Taylor was very professional and was able to correct issues caused by another contractor. Any part of the job he was not able to do, he provided me with reliable people to come and do it. I would hire Mr. Taylor again without a doubt."

"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"Mark, with Patch of Heaven Landscape, is wonderful! I had him come out to my home in hopes to build an above ground garden & do some landscaping work around the front of the house. He came out within a week of our initial call and we discussed our options and worked up a plan. He got me a complete quote in 2 days! While, we are still waiting to make that final leap to re-do the front of the house, I wanted to for SURE go ahead and get the garden built to ensure I would have a summer / fall harvest ◡̈ Mark was MORE than helpful and a wealth of knowledge! He is quick to respond & answer any questions I may have regarding both landscape & my garden - his wife even sent me a couple different seeds to plant in my garden! Patch of Heaven truly goes above & beyond to ensure their customers receive the best service, quality, & care. I cannot recommend them more - looking forward to them coming back to help with my front landscape hopefully in the near future."

"My wife and I highly recommend this Company for new installations and repairs. They offer services at a fair cost, with well-trained Laborers. They are very professional, kind, knowledgeable, and not pushy. This was not our first experience with this company. They always provide us with great workmanship and beauty that is pleasing for many years to come. They were attentive to all areas surrounding our home and completed cleanup as well. We have been completely satisfied with their work and will continue to do business with this company in the future."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

Not all porch columns are load-bearing, though they can be. Some porch columns are simply decorative. There are ways to identify a load-bearing column, like looking for visible seams and a foundation. Also, check to see if the column directly enters the ground. In some porch installations, a contractor will excavate a hole to install a column into the earth along with a buried cement base for stability.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Proper Murphy bed installation minimizes the risk of wall damage. A secure attachment requires making some holes for anchors or brackets, but these can be easily patched if the bed is removed. To ensure the installation is done correctly and safely, hiring a professional is recommended, especially if you have limited DIY experience.

Framing a basement takes three to five days, on average, when completed by a professional, though it may take longer for a larger space. Keep in mind this doesn’t include the time to complete the design, obtain permits, and install the drywall on the framing. On average, fully finishing a basement takes an average of 45 days.
