"Jay built a floating dock/pier for us. The quality of the work done is very good. Jay researched the different companies that have floating docks and gave us a detailed proposal/contract. He uses quality materials and was very precise in constructing the dock/pier. He communicated with us throughout the process. He is a true professional in that he kept to his set work schedule and finished ahead of the projected timeline. We are very pleased with the whole project, enjoyed working with him, and highly recommend Jay."

"Mr. Taylor was very professional and was able to correct issues caused by another contractor. Any part of the job he was not able to do, he provided me with reliable people to come and do it. I would hire Mr. Taylor again without a doubt."

"I contracted Synergy Painting to paint the entire interior of a 1500 square foot home. They painted ceilings, crown moldings, walls, baseboards, window trim, cabinets inside and out, closets and shelves, and every door in the house. The results were amazing and professional at every level. They used drop cloths everywhere. The entire job took 5 days. I would highly recommend Synergy Painters."

"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"Greene Construction was very timely addressing my roof leak, installing new roof and repairing damage internally. New roof looks great and Justin was very informative explaining any findings he had that needed further attention. Crew was extremely polite and cleaned up after each day. I would highly recommend Greene Construction for any needs. Itâ s nice to find a local company for needs in small towns such as Harrisburg,"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Enhances property value, ensures safety, and provides a sound basis for future construction.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

To calculate the number of linear feet of baseboard you’ll need, measure the length of each wall of the room you’re installing them in as close to the floor as possible, rounding up to the next full linear foot. If it’s your first DIY molding job, having a few extra feet on hand for miscuts is a good idea.

Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.
