"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Jamie communicated with me about scheduling, showed on time for the agreed date, worked quickly on the project- finishing in about 5-hours, cleanup after himself, and stuck to the agreed pricing with a modest concession for some unanticipated project changes. I would hire him again for a similar project with out bidding. Thanks Jamie!"

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

Solid wood is a durable and attractive option for cabinet doors that holds up well against a small amount of moisture. However, solid wood doors will expand and contract, meaning upkeep will be necessary if painted. Particleboard with veneer cabinet doors are cost-effective and can be attractive. MDF cabinet doors offer excellent and predictable workability features. However, both of those options are vulnerable to damage if water finds its way through the veneer or paint finish.

Every few years to ensure they remain in good working condition.

Yes, it is essential to sand cabinets before staining or restaining to ensure the new stain adheres properly and soaks into the wood, which creates a richer and longer-lasting color. Before sanding, clean the cabinet's exterior with soap and water. When sanding, use sandpaper or an electric sander and always follow the direction of the wood grain. The extent of sanding required depends on your project. If you are applying a darker stain over previously stained wood, you only need to sand lightly to remove the old finish and rough up the surface. However, if you are applying a lighter stain over a darker color or over paint, you must sand down to the original bare wood to prevent the old color from showing through.

When it comes to kitchen cabinets, most homeowners opt for stock cabinetry. Not only is stock cabinetry more affordable than custom or semi-custom options, but it’s also typically readily available for a quick installation. RTA cabinets are popular types of kitchen cabinets as well, but often aren’t as durable and can be difficult to build.
