He is awesome. He actually did it for free. He found out that my husband was acts-of-duty army and he told me to just tell my husband "Thank you for your service" and he didn't charge me. Oh yeah, I would use STEVEN MOONEY IMPROVEMENTS ( SMI INC.) again in the future.

Clean work stations and atmosphere, did what was ask of them. Very professional and nice.

Great Job! Can't say enough about him and the work he did. I had to update my mother's house and lucked out and found Steve. He gave me a written estimate, did exactly what he said he would do, when he said he would do it, made suggestions that made the house look better and others that saved me money, and the whole project was managed by smart phone with phone calls and pictures from 250 miles away. Doesn't get any better than this! Highly Recommend !!

It went really well. We could not have been more pleased with SMI, Inc. He gave us a quote which was lowest of four bids we received. He told us when he could start work and he was at our home as promised. The work was excellent and handled in an extremely professional manner. We could not have been more pleased and will certainly use SMI, Inc. again.

The bookshelves were made to my exact specifications. He paid attention to details that I didn't even consider. For instance, the bookshelves are even with the windows beside them, the molding is congruent with the molding around the room and his measurements were exact. They are painted beautifully. He took his time and prepared the shelves in his shop prior to installing them in my house, therefore, the workmanship was excellent and  it only took a day and a half to complete installation. They are aligned and solid and really contribute to the overall design of the house. I will use him for all of my carpentry needs!

Mr. Mooney came out and gave the estimate and they he came back with his helper, Jerry, and did the work.  There was no marketing agent.  The work was done for the price estimated, so we knew from the start how much it would cost.
Initially, Steve and his assistant, Jerry, spent half a day cleaning our home exterior.  This included treatment with a solution to remove mildew, washing, scrubbing and power washing.  They did a thorough job cleaning 15 years of dirt and mildew off our home and it looked much better. 
After our home had a few days to dry out, Steve replaced select pieces of trim and soffit material as needed.  He found damaged areas that we didn't even know about!  All joints and seams were caulked.  He and Jerry then painted on two coats of paint.  Steve also built new wood shutters for our front windows (a big improvement on our louvered plastic shutters) and installed recessed can lights on our front porch (we provided the lights).  We were very pleased with the quality of their work. 
Top notch quality and very reasonably priced.  We strongly recommend them and we would use them again.

New countertops. counters remade to fit current appliances. entire room refinished along with all new cabinet doors.

He is just the best.  When you call or email he gets back to you quick, no waiting for days.    He is not only professional but pleasant, a gentleman, and will do whatever you want done to your satisfaction.  His prices seem a little high on first impression, but you get what you pay for and Steve gives you this value.  Can't say enough positive about him

All went as planned.

Got a couple of quotes.  Mr. Mooney was rated well on Angie's List so he was one I called.  He was also the lower of the two quotes by a lot and I couldn't tell why the other people were so high.   Steve started on June 23rd and pressure washed the entire house.  On June 30th he started painting and was finished on July 8th.  He and one helper painted everything.  They scraped and re-glazed a couple of window, caulked where needed.  I provided the paint from Home Depot because I was used the Behr paint and had it custom mixed to match our garage, which is now all pre-painted Hardi boards.  The main house is, unfortunately still mostly Masonite and it has a tendency to rot if it ever gets wet.  I decided to try and put off getting Hardi siding on everything for now.  He primed and painted the siding and trim including front door and front shutters.  He found more siding to replace than I thought and he used Hardi board on all of it and did a great job and it looks just like the existing siding. 

Overall he did a fine job and was very pleasant to work with.  He called me back and came over for a quote quickly and told me up front that it might take a few weeks to get to me because he was so busy.  He actually started sooner than I thought he would.  I was not in a rush anyway.  The one thing I have to say, and this goes for other contractor's that I've had here is that they don't pay enough attention to my plants and have a very bad habit of trampling things when they are in their way. That is the main reason I gave them a B rating on the quality of work.  However, they did a good job of cleaning up after they were done and I would use him again for future work.  Oh, I should say that he painted everything by hand and did not use a paint sprayer.

Steve even gave me the name of a brick mason to rebuild a section of my foundation skirt wall that was falling apart due to old mortar.  I had that person come and do the work and he did an excellent job too.

Steve and Jerry did a great job and were very professional and friendly.  Will call them again when we need work done.  Everything looks and works great, it's almost like a new home.

The job  went very well.  I contacted him on about 8/12;  he sent me a quote on 8/14;  and started the job on 8/18.  The job actually
took less time than he estimated, and he reduced his price accordingly.

Steve was very responsive from beginning to end.  He was very patient with me when I had difficulty deciding on colors. I was completely comfortable with having him and his helper around.  They were as non-intrusive as possible and I felt safe with both. Also I did not have to pick up after them!  They left the job site clean and neat every day.
Steve did a great job on the house.  The finished product is great! I have had this house stained and painted twice before and both times were a nightmare.  In fact, the last time I had it done, I swore I would move before going through it again!  I don't feel that way this time.  I'll just call Steve.

Mr. Mooney returned my call in a timely manner and arranged a visit. After the visit, I received a quote for all services and asked for them to proceed. They stayed in constant communication through the rain to schedule days to work. When the work started, they replaced all the rotten wood on the house, pressure washed the house, primed and painted the siding, trim, and doors for the house. They were extremly professional and polite. I have gotten a ton of complements on the house. It looks great.

Very good quality of work! Professional and at a fair price

If I could give Steve Mooney an A++++ rating I would.  He was not only professional, but so considerate in trying not to disrupt our normal lives during all the construction.  Every day before leaving he and his assistant Jerry cleaned up the area they were working in so we were able to used the room.  We've lived in our home for 13 years and it needed a major face lift.  What he delivered was way beyond what we envisioned.  He was helpful in making suggestions when we couldn't make up our minds and his suggestions were spot-on.  He is a perfectionist who has pride in his work and it shows.  We couldn't be happier.

Mr. Mooney was very responsive up front. I called and set up a date/time to come by. He came by when he said he would to provide an estimate. He spent as much time needed to make sure we covered everything on the repair work and paint colors. We set up a date a few weeks out that he would start as I also needed to order the new shutters and pick out the paint colors. I ordered the shutters and picked out the new colors and got that information to Mr. Mooney. He came out exactly when he said he would and started the work. If a question came up he would call or email to let me know and we'd get it resolved quickly. He repainted my home completely (changing the colors), took down the old shutters, repainted/replaced the new ones and replaced the siding. The light carpentry work was excellent. The paint job was excellent. He put two rich coats, scraped, caulked etc. My home looks better than it ever has. Mr. Mooney was very professional the whole way through, in keeping in contact and also on the quality of work. The costs of the job was right about where I figured it would be before calling. I would definitely use him again. Also, did I mention that he's a very nice guy too.
