"The work crew was very courteous and professional. They overcame unexpected obstacles without missing a beat, such as replacing a bad toilet water valve, a broken toilet flange and degraded section of subflooring. I would gladly hire Deano Tile again and recommend them highly."

"Bath Pro KC handled the remodeling of our bathroom, and we are extremely happy with the results. From their salesman, Ron, who guided us through the decision-making process, to Zach who did the installation, and Keith who handled the punch list items given him by Zach, as well as the few items we requested, everyone treated us with respect, was responsive to our needs, and worked in a professional, efficient and courteous manner. Ron did not pressure us to "buy more," but considered what we needed and offered options to meet those needs. He even returned to the house later that week, when my daughter could be there, so we could select colors and finishes, as well as answering several post-signing calls asking for information or advice. Zach arrived on time each of the 3 days for the install (we replaced the flooring, toilet, vanity and sink also, as well as having some repairs done to the drywall in the floor below the bathroom because of previous water leaks) and just kept at it. He did all the demo and had to work around the non-standard size of our former bath tub, now shower space, as well as cut-outs that were under our old vanity. He even saved a square of the old linoleum I requested for my son. We have a new Onyz shower, a taller toilet and taller, prettier and more modern vanity (the old one was incredibly short!) that we absolutely love! I can't say enough good things about how well we were treated, how competitive the pricing was, and the just plain nice folks we dealt with on this project. We are very happy customers and would highly recommend Bath Pro KC to anyone. These guys definitely know their stuff!"

"I called because I had a sewer gas smell in the house and wasn't sure from where it was coming.  LJ showed up on time and we were able to determine the smell was coming from one of the toilets.  After pulling the toilet, he found that it had not been installed properly before.  He replaced the wax ring and spacers and re-seated the toilet.  Presto!  The nasty smell is gone!  LJ is courteous and professional, I would definitely use this company again.

"He was very knowledgeable and explained what could happen if the ring broke when the toilet was removed. The toilet is 50 years old and has a castiron ring. He suggested replacing the guts but not the toilet which not only cost less but fixed the problem."

"Jeff and his team are great. We had to have the septic inspected and pumped to sell our house and they were very easy to work with and experienced. Moving is stressful and they did everything with short notice. Would highly recommend this company. I'm going to use them again at my new residence."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

If you have to hold the toilet handle (also called the toilet lever) down to flush, you probably have a chain problem. A chain that cannot fully lift the flapper will close too early and not clear the toilet bowl. Try adjusting the chain length so there’s about ½ inch of slack.

The main causes for a leaky toilet flapper include wear and tear or a broken or incorrectly installed toilet flapper chain. If your toilet flapper is torn or deteriorated, it can’t provide a proper seal to keep water from running. Meanwhile, a chain that has come loose, was moved, or just wasn’t installed right can prevent your flapper from fully closing.

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.

The biggest sign that your flange leaks is if you notice water at the base of the toilet. The cause is likely due to a poor flange installation, so you might have issues with loose bolts, an uneven flange, or a cracked plastic flange. Add a deteriorating wax seal to this, and you have a recipe for disaster. The best solution is to shut off the water valve, replace the toilet flange, and seal it with a new wax ring.

Toilet handles can get stuck for a couple of reasons, but it’s commonly an issue with the chain. Remove the lid and check the chain’s connection, running from the flapper to the handle arm. Sometimes the chain gets snagged on or against another part of the tank.

The chain might not have the right tension. For example, a chain that’s too short can make the handle feel stuck. Check that there’s some slack in the chain. Old, worn-out flappers can get stuck, too. In this case, you’ll need to see which size toilet flapper you need.
