"This has got to be the best tree service anywhere. The entire crew was very friendly, very conscientious and cleaned up every speck of debris with rakes and blowers. Could not be more pleased with the job they did taking out this massive 52 inch diameter tree."

"They removed 4 bushes from the yard in addition to the trimming of the giant oak tree in the front yard. They were supposed to grind up the roots of two of the bushes but they did not. Otherwise, everything was fine. They cleaned up all the twigs, etc and raked the yard. I would hire them again, but would make sure all the work was done."

Customers say: Quick response

"Noel was the first one to respond when I set up the job on H. A. The 15 foot branches were in the street and the city moved them to the yard. They looked at the trees and determined they needed to come down. After getting the price they cut up the branches and put them in piles to pick up later. I was surprised at how quickly and efficiently they removed 4 sick trees. They even took the stumps out. I would refer his company to anyone who needs tree service. Nice job well done makes you feel good."

"From initial request for quotation to job completion, this company has been knowledgeable, responsive and professional. A full-day job in sweltering heat was completed thoroughly by a hard-working crew with great attention to detail, including complete clean-up. The owner is great to work with - friendly, good knowledge and referrals for items he doesnâ t specialize in (pests in large ash tree), and positive attitude. Highest recommendation."

"Taft was very responsive and professional. He and the team did a fantastic job not only removing a dead tree, trimming others, and brush cleanup. They were fast and priced well. Would definitely use Clark Tree Service again and recommend to others."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

Though summer is not ideal, you can do some light pruning during this time of year. Just make sure it’s not excessive. Vigorous pruning will stress the tree and impact next year’s growth. Generally, August to September are the best summer-pruning months, particularly for fruit trees.

Trees naturally want to grow upward, so one may straighten all by itself, though this only comes into play when a tree is leaning just a small amount. For trees growing into an awkward position or those leaning heavily in one direction, the above steps are necessary to ensure the tree gets back on the right path. This also holds true for trees planted in a spot with unstable soil.

A tree can split because of high winds, a change in temperature, or from an infestation or tree disease. All of these factors can overlap, making a single cause difficult to pinpoint. While winter storms are some of the most common causes for a tree to split, it can also happen because of termites or rot.

A dead tree should always be cut down, because it could fall and cause injuries or damage, and it can also attract insects like carpenter ants. A tree that’s diseased beyond repair should also be cut down, but it’s not always easy for a homeowner to tell. Signs of disease include dying branches, a hollow trunk, leaning, and discolored or missing leaves, but your best bet is to hire a local arborist who can evaluate the tree and tell you if it can be saved or should be cut down.
