"Aleksey is great to work with! His is super responsive, professional and does quality work. He excels at wall and floor tiling. We had white subway tile with dark grout installed. Our decorator said said the quality of our tiling was the best she'd seen. It is difficult to keep the white tiles clean when using the dark grout. Aleksey was also the general contractor for the plumbing, electrical, and wall refinishing. His responsiveness is way above average compared to other contractors I've work with. I'm very happy with my experience with Aleksey. I will definitely hire him for future remodel projects."

"Excellent job. Everything was well explained and neatly completed. Only thing that never ceases to amaze me is the labor costs, not just with Randy's but with all electricians and plumbers. Wish I could convince my son to pursue one of these career paths!"

"In May of this year we had Great Lakes Home Renovations replace the aging shower stall in our upstairs bathroom. Despite scheduling challenges presented by COVID-19 and an incorrectly measured shower pan (which had to be re-ordered), we are pleased with the results. Ben and crew were very polite and respectful to our COVID-19 concerns and performed their jobs quite well. Whenever I had a question, Ben answered it thoroughly. He also sought our input when needed which I appreciate. Ben did a very good job finishing the project and left the worksite very clean."

"We had used Ron a couple times in Hector from word of mouth for tree branch back up, pricing always reasonable and not overly crazy, but worth the work, of course! Then our underground plumbing rusted..nightmare! He was available to talk through situations as we had to demo basement for us to save money and for him to put plumbing in, just great! Everything was fixed timely, professionally, and good conversation between men! Highly recommend!!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

As your home ages, your plumbing needs shift based on your neighborhood. Historic properties near downtown Shakopee require full repipes to replace corroded galvanized steel. Mid-century homes experience pinhole leaks in older copper supply lines due to hard water. In newer suburban developments, you will face first-generation water heater replacements. Across all MN properties with hard water, water softeners demand regular service and regeneration media replacement over time.

Helpful?

When planning exterior plumbing, you must account for the local climate. The ground remains frozen from December through March, making late May through October the practical window for underground excavation in Shakopee. If your property sits in a designated flood zone near the river, you must install specific backwater valves. Additionally, rural properties on private septic systems face strict MN environmental regulations when adding fixtures that increase wastewater loads.

Helpful?

Proactively updating your plumbing provides immediate protection against destructive winter freeze damage and spring basement flooding. Installing whole-home filtration instantly improves the taste and quality of mineral-rich Shakopee water. In the long term, properly maintained water treatment systems extend the life of your fixtures and appliances. Furthermore, completing permitted updates ensures your property remains resilient against floods and maintains its value in the competitive MN real estate market.

Helpful?

Ignoring hard water scale is a primary cause of premature equipment failure in Shakopee homes. You should periodically flush your water heater to manage this heavy mineral buildup. During freezing MN winters, leaving attached garage doors open or keeping thermostats set too low will lead to burst pipes. Furthermore, pouring caustic chemical drain cleaners into older pipes accelerates severe corrosion, while neglecting routine sump pump maintenance invites basement flooding.

Helpful?

To ensure your plumbing holds up over time, you must account for local conditions. Shakopee has notably hard groundwater that accelerates mineral buildup inside pipes and fixtures. Additionally, local soil shifts during seasonal freeze-thaw cycles, stressing underground pipes. A licensed contractor will install buried water lines below the MN frost depth of 42 to 48 inches to prevent premature pipe failure and ensure your system remains reliable.
