"I couldn't be happier with my new bathroom! Aleksey was honest and fair with the bid, and Alex did an absolutely superb job re-tiling! I contacted several contractors before meeting Aleksey. The first one two nearly a month to get back to me after looking over the job-needless to say I didn't hire him. Another had me send pictures of the job, which I did-I never heard back from him. These days a lot of contractors want to sell you a "package" that includes new fixtures, which some of us don't need. It was very refreshing to work with North Point Services, who did only the work needed, and did not try to sell me on things I didn't need. Aleksey and Alex were very conscientious, taking care of the little things that made my entire experience easier. Thank you North Point Services!!"

"In May of this year we had Great Lakes Home Renovations replace the aging shower stall in our upstairs bathroom. Despite scheduling challenges presented by COVID-19 and an incorrectly measured shower pan (which had to be re-ordered), we are pleased with the results. Ben and crew were very polite and respectful to our COVID-19 concerns and performed their jobs quite well. Whenever I had a question, Ben answered it thoroughly. He also sought our input when needed which I appreciate. Ben did a very good job finishing the project and left the worksite very clean."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

A frequent mistake during plumbing projects in Savage is skipping permits for tasks like water heater replacements. Another major error is ignoring the 42-to-48-inch frost depth requirement for outdoor pipes, leading to winter bursts. Homeowners also fail to check for outdated materials, like polybutylene, in older neighborhoods. Always verify your sump pump discharges away from the sanitary sewer, and install a pressure-reducing valve to handle high municipal water pressure.

Helpful?

Before starting plumbing work in Savage, check your permit requirements. Projects beyond simple fixture replacements require an approved permit. Verify that your hired professional holds a valid MN license. If your project involves digging, contact 811 at least 48 hours in advance to locate utilities. Finally, confirm whether your property uses municipal services or a private well, as this dictates the scope of your work and necessary inspections.

Helpful?

Strict compliance with the state code ensures the longevity of your plumbing work. Hire a licensed professional to guarantee safe, inspected installations. Select durable pipe materials designed to withstand the hard water found in the local MN aquifers. For exterior projects, bury lines below the 48-inch frost depth to prevent freezing. Finally, maintain a robust sump pump system to manage moisture and protect your basement infrastructure from water damage.

Helpful?

Build your routine around the extreme Savage climate. In the fall, shut off and drain all exterior hose bibs to prevent winter freezing. During winter, maintain indoor temperatures above 55 degrees Fahrenheit and locate your main shutoff valve. When spring arrives, inspect outdoor spigots for freeze damage and test your sump pump to handle snowmelt. In the summer, check irrigation connections and look for hidden leaks under your sinks.

Helpful?

Assess the age of your property to determine your plumbing needs. Older MN homes built before the 1980s feature aging cast iron or galvanized pipes requiring full upgrades. Properties from the 1980s and 1990s possess polybutylene supply lines that demand replacement. If your property relies on a private well, install a water treatment system to combat hard water. Finally, schedule a sewer scope inspection to check for root intrusion.
