"It went better than I could have imagined. All the other calls I made required a repair technician appointment and a separate salesperson appointment. Vitaliy the HVAC Doctor was extremely knowledgeable -- able to repair our old A/C enough to get us through until the new A/C was installed AND get us set up with a new one. We got a great new 2-stage A/C at a terrific price. Vitaliy really knows HVAC, and did a super job. Also, he has an incredible work ethic. He fit us in on short notice on a Saturday, and took his time answering all our questions. Once we were satisfied with the solution, he fixed everything by headlamp in the dark. He made sure we never felt pressured or rushed. We absolutely have a new favorite HVAC company."

"Great service, and helpful suggestions to keep my HVAC system cleaner.  The guys showed up on time and took care when working throughout the house.  I'll be using this company again in two years for our next cleaning.

"Requested a quote and Justin texted quickly, asking to see a pic inside one of our returns. Stated that the ducts looked clean and advised how to check the furnace to see if it's been done before. Lo and behold, found a sticker on the furnace indicating a duct cleaning had been completed recently by the previous owners. He also recommended a low cost solution to sanitize the HVAC system that we could do ourselves. We are super impressed and plan to hire this company when the time comes for a cleaning! A business with integrity - how novel! :)"

"They worked around our schedule to come out for an est. and provide space heaters to keep us warm. The techs were fast and provided great quality. The sales person was honest with us in determining what options would be best for our size house. Great place for HVAC."

"Professional and friendly service, I have used B& D for almost 5 years now, and will continue to use them.  They do a  thorough job of checking and cleaning the A/C and heating system once a year.  I have called them for emergency situations as well--leaking of humidifier, non functioning heater in the middle of winter--and every time they are very responsive and fix the problem right away.  Wonderful service, thank you!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

After a while, dust, dirt, and other debris accumulates on an AC unit's coils and filters, making it less efficient and spreading allergens and other air pollutants throughout your home. Cleaning your AC unit will keep it running efficiently, minimizing future breakdowns and improving your indoor air quality.

A 3-ton AC unit is probably too big for a home that’s 1,200 square feet. If you have a 1,200-square-foot home, you likely need a unit that’s somewhere around 1.9 and 2 tons. An AC unit that’s too large will be really inefficient and cost you a lot of extra money on your bills.

Look up your model number online to find additional information. Usually, you can just take a look at the old filter and find the brand name and dimensions to order a new one. When replacing the filter, always check that it’s pointed the right way to match the direction of your airflow. Many filters have arrows on them to help with this step.

Yes, HVAC zoning is generally considered worth the investment by both experts and homeowners. Zoned systems offer significant benefits in convenience, efficiency, and comfort by allowing you to set different temperatures for various rooms or 'zones' in your house. This ability to heat and cool only the spaces you're using leads to energy savings and lower utility bills. Zoned systems are especially effective in multi-level homes that experience temperature fluctuations, but even smaller homes can benefit from the ability to adjust temperatures more quickly. While the up-front installation cost can be high, many find it's a worthwhile long-term investment, particularly for those who plan to stay in their home for a while.

While 72 degrees is a comfortable setting for many people, it’s likely not the most efficient temperature setting for your air conditioning unit. By pushing the temperature up to 75 or 78 degrees, you stand to save money on your energy bill. That said, these temperatures may be too warm to be comfortable for some people and are definitely too warm for most people to sleep comfortably.
