"Radon levels were over 7 at the new house we bought. Andrew installed a radon mitigation system and brought the levels down below 2.0. Andrew and co-worker were great to work with. They installed a standard system that they provided as estimate for up front. They provided 2 test kits to check the results after the work was done. When I screwed up the tests, they provided 2 more kits."

"It went smooth and thorough and he gave us the information we needed to know. I was wanting to schedule something soon and they were able to come out two days after I inquired their services! Cant beat that. We also got a phone call explaining everything that was found for the air quality test and where to go from there. All their help was very much appreciated."

"Very nice company to work with. Wayne came by within a day to do an estimate which was in line with others I checked. We had radon levels according to my AirThings Radon Detector of between 5-8 pCi/L; as we have a fairly large footprint and no drain tile they could hook into he suggested a larger fan unit just to be on the safe side. Estimate was $1400 with the larger fan and a sump seal. Wayne answered all of my questions clearly and responded to email when I had additional questions. I had to wait about 2 weeks on the install as they were fairly busy. Roger the co-owner handles the installs and he came along with an additional helper. They took about 4 hours on the job and did some nice work including some fancy snaking of the exhaust to get it above the roof line. Wayne they handles the final test and he came by about 2 weeks later to do the testing. He ran a 48 hour test that yielded an average reading of around 1.8 pCi/L - I had hoped for a bit better reading but it was well under the 4 recommended by EPA guidelines so I couldn't really complain. I noted that the AirThings detector I had gave a very similar average reading. The good news is that over time I'm seeing the average reading on my meter improving and I show a long term reading now of about 1 pCi/L and often have short term daily readings close to 1/2 of that. Overall very pleased with the work and results."

"We hired Radone, inc. for some follow-up work after a different contractor (Radon Squad, inc.) let us down. Sam did a great job assessing the installation and make the necessary repairs in a timely manner. His communication was excellent throughout. Highly recommend."

"Randy and his team were great from start to finish. Chris promptly placed a very competitive bid for the mitigation system needed for our home and educated us on what we could expect from our system. Once we agreed to having the work done, Randy was flexible and able to get us on their schedule quickly and on a day that worked for us. Tony and Josh did outstanding work and were extremely professional, prompt, and easy to get along with. Everyone we dealt with at Radon Removal is very knowledgeable and we feel extremely confident in the work they provided. We will definitely recommend them to anyone we know in need of their services. Phil & Sandy, Brooklyn Park, MN"
When possible, the pipe is run to the garage, and the fan is in the garage attic.
When there is no way to get the pipe through the interior of the building, the fan and pipe will be outside.

"Very precise in first measuring the level of Radon present, and although well within suggested limits, per my insistence, turned our Passive system into an Active system by installing a fan in the attic to ensure any Radon would be exhausted into the air despite our overly long piping. Working was done quickly and monitoring was explained by Dan and he also provided a pre-paid test kit to check the level of Radon after the fan and monitor were installed."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a radon mitigation system depends on the type of system and its maintenance. With proper care, a system can last for many decades. Passive systems tend to last longer as they have fewer components that require replacement. Active systems, which have more moving parts like fans, generally have a shorter lifespan. For instance, water filtration devices and active pressurization systems require more frequent maintenance. While the system as a whole is durable, the radon fan in an active system typically has a lifespan of 5 to 10 years and will need to be replaced. As long as the fan is working, the mitigation system should function correctly.

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.

Testing every 2-5 years or upon adjusting occupancy or structural changes maintains safe environments.

Ideally, no one will live in a house with elevated radon levels, as prolonged exposure increases the risk of serious health issues like lung cancer. However, homes with radon can be made safe through mitigation systems, such as active soil depressurization. Testing for radon regularly and addressing high levels helps ensure a safe living environment.

Long-term exposure increases lung cancer risks. Prolonged homestay individuals and smokers encounter heightened vulnerability and exposure concerns.
