"I had an old water heater (was in the house when I moved in about 20 years ago) and it started to leak. After shutting off the water to the water heater, I did a little Angie's List research to find a company to do the replacement. I called a couple and decided to use Randy Lane, based on cost and my interaction with them, which I felt was cordial and helpful, and made an appointment.
The service person arrived on time on the day of the appointment and went to work. He disconnected the old heater and hauled it out. The new heater was brought in and he did the needed plumbing work to connect the water and also made the natural gas connections. He fired up the unit and briefed me on the new unit - how to turn-off the water and gas, if needed, temperature, etc.
The area was left in the same condition as when he arrived.

"We had 3 different things done and it took over a day to complete them all. We put in shut-offs at a sink and a new ejector pump in our basement. The biggest project was installing a water heater. We were replacing an old gravity system and went with a power vent. We selected a hybrid water heater as it sound like the best option for us and is supposed to be very energy efficient. Not sure yet on the efficiency, but the heater is on the highest temp setting and we cannot even fill a bathtub with hot water. There are only two of us in the house and it doesn't seem like it can keep up. The technician was very courteous, but he had not installed one of these hybrids before. This was not a cheap unit and we are not happy with it. Update: After my initial review, MN Plumbing and Heating sent a technician to look at our water heater. He agreed based on my assessment that the heater should be performing better. He checked all of the settings, verified the water temp and the flow rate. Everything checked out with that so he looked at our faucets. We have a bathroom that hasn't been remodeled yet and has old faucets. Sure enough the tub faucet has a very high flow rate that basically will not allow any water heater to keep up. Thanks for coming back out and taking the time to verify the installation and explaining the situation!"

They went above and beyond by coordinating the installation of several appliances at one time even though the company we purchased from said we couldn't do that. Michelle, the office manager, was wonderfully helpful in the coordination of everything, and their installers, Oakly and Jordan, did an amazing job of installing all the appliances and took the time to explain the operation to us. "We had just moved into a new house and ran the dishwasher for the first time only to find water seeping out all over the hardwood floors!  We ran one more load just to be sure it was the dishwasher, which it was.  We called two companies for a quote.  I left a message with SOS, but they returned my call probably within 15 minutes.  The gal on the phone was extremely helpful.  She told me what it would cost for the service call and then explained the Angie's List discount, which I had already seen online.  Whereas the other company was scheduling a whole week out, she said they happened to have a serviceman, Cory, who was in a neighboring town and who was finishing his work route early that day, so he had one more opening.  He was at our house within 20 minutes.  He got on the floor and discovered right away that the drain hose was cracked and needed to be replaced.  We approved the repair and he had it up and running, including testing for leaks with the new hose installed, within an hour.  We ran another load tonight and there's no leaking.  Thank you, Cory!"

"Willem arrived on time, installed the humidifier, and explained it's operation. We ran into a bit of glitch with space for the unit, but with the aid of a saw it was overcome. I won't know how well it works until winter arrives in a few months.
