Customers say: Super punctual

"I did my due diligence and received three proposals on the replacement of my crumbling asphalt layered garage floor and driveway apron. There was no doubt that Greg Pietig from Crosstown Concrete and Brick Paving was the only one who had a clear vision how the job should be done, taking into account every aspect of the work, and working with me to meet our needs. I was so impressed with the professionalism of the crew and, most importantly, the quality of the work. My 60+ year garage has never looked so good! I have received several unsolicited compliments from neighbors, all wanting the name of the company that did the work. I smile and tell them contact Greg at Crosstown Concrete and Brick Paving!"

"This was not an easy job! The granite patio is absolutely beautiful. Some other contractors wouldn't even talk about using that product. Al and team were prompt, professional and competitively priced. When we ran into a minor misunderstanding on finishing work, he made sure I was absolutely happy with the result before he called it a job. I wholeheartedly endorse Goodfellows."

"Excellent Service from Clark Company. I was so impressed with the service I received from Clark Company. The entire process, from getting a quote to the final pickup, was incredibly smooth. The dumpster was delivered exactly when they said it would be, and the driver was friendly and professional. I appreciated how they took care to place it exactly where I needed it without damaging my property. The pickup was just as easy. The dumpster itself was clean and in great condition. The pricing was also very competitive, which was a huge plus. I will definitely be using Clark Company again for my next project and highly recommend them to anyone needing reliable dumpster rental service."

"Ron and his group at L&R Landscaping did an excellent job with our landscaping project. Here is why we chose them for our project and why you should consider them for your project. We met with three different companies to fix a drainage issue and renovate our patio. We felt that L&R listened to what we were trying to accomplish and provided the best solution. There was good communication with the office, lead project coordinators and the workers throughout the process. They were hard working, friendly and very conscientious regarding the next-door neighbor’s yard. We were very pleased with the entire process and would highly recommend that you visit with L&R for your landscaping needs. Jeff and Wendy F."

"We are very pleased with the services Twin City Landscape provided for us. Debbie was tremendous at hand-holding us along the way on patio paver styles. And, like any good company, she often offered advisement on many things to consider with our overall design. The crew is always on time and they work very hard. Always impressive to see their clean up at days end as well. The final product came out great! We are very happy with the results and the communication from estimating to final bill."

"Chris was professional, friendly and easy to deal with. Even though he hadn't installed any permeable driveways, he had installed permeable patios and didn't see any problems with doing something similar with my small driveway. He even suggested some options for reusing the water. I would have accepted Chris' proposal but I found someone who installed permeable driveways using recycled material which is what I initially wanted and was having a hard time finding.

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, tiles are for indoor use, while pavers are for outdoor use. The main difference between travertine tiles and pavers is their thickness. Tiles are around 1/2 inch thick, and pavers are 1 1/4 inches to 2 inches thick.

Pavers are more rugged and can handle different weather. The extra thickness on pavers also makes them ideal for high-traffic areas.

The most common causes of sunken pavers are poor base preparation and insufficient compaction. The problem could also be how your pavers were installed. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

After removing existing moss, consider using paver blocking sand to fill the joints. This specialty material hardens once placed and serves as an effective barrier against moss and weeds. From there on, regularly clean your pavers and try to keep them dry. You can also seal your paver as a semi-permanent solution — just make sure you reseal every 3 to 5 years.

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

The ideal distance between stepping stones depends on your design preference. A general rule is to place them about 24 inches apart from center to center to match an average person's stride. Another common approach is to leave about 6 inches of space between the edges of each stone; this can be adjusted to fit the path's total length without cutting pavers. If you plan to plant between the stones, leave at least 6 to 8 inches of space to give the plants room to grow.
