Resurfaced concrete can last anywhere from eight to 15 years on average. Just how long your resurface concrete driveway lasts depends on how often you seal the concrete, the amount of traffic, how well the concrete resurfacer was applied, and even the soil quality. No, cement cannot be used on its own except for rare circumstances, as it's only a binder to form other products, such as concrete or mortar. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to create a concrete or mortar mix. Concrete, for instance, needs cement, water, and aggregates such as sand and gravel. Using the right amount of water and water temperature is essential to ensure you have the right concrete slump and the mix spreads easily and cures well.

For homeowners, it’s better to dry grind concrete. Dry grinding is the method described above and can be done by experienced DIYers for smaller projects. Wet grinding requires a big volume of water, a way to collect the slurry created by the water and dust, and an environmentally-safe place to dispose of the slurry. In general, only professionals do wet grinding.
