"I called Junk Genius on a Friday in the late afternoon and they were at my home by 8:30 the next morning. Mike & Pablo were my two specialists. They were friendly, fast and amazing packers! You pay by the space used. They utilized every last inch in that truck! My job took more than one load and I swear they were gone less than 15 minutes to get a new truck and back reloading again. The entire experience from beginning to end was flawless and I will use them again! I highly recommend Junk Genius!"

"It went great, we were able to set up an appointment for the pick up and when they were near, let us know they were ten minutes away. Prices were reasonable, they were friendly, quick and they made sure no damage was done to surroundings. Would definitely hire again."

"They arrived on time, we very professional, wrapped our furniture to avoid scratches and moved very quickly and efficiently to clear our house.  We had more items than could fit in the two loads planned, so they came back the next day to move a basketball hoop, kayak and grill.  They worked later than anticipated due to the volume of items that needed to be moved, and did not complain about it. We will definitely call them again when we have moving needs."

"I had 4 tree services come by for estimates. All Seasons was the most reasonable plus they were recommended by a friend.  They were very quick to respond and were able to do the job just a few days after the estimate. Everything looked great and they didn't leave a mess.

"Miller and his colleagues were able to do a lot of things quickly. Along with everything else, they also grabbed some old furniture that I needed help moving to the curb. They took several cares to make sure nothing was damaged during the move, including wrapping the furniture, turning off all the lights, and packaging the picture frames."

Hauling questions, answered by experts

To clean an estate, start by locating all important documents, which you’ll need to sort through. Have the mail forwarded, change the locks, and take inventory of the entire estate. Once you know what you’re dealing with, create a plan and a timeline for the cleanout. Start clearing out rooms and sorting items to donate, sell, or get rid of. Finally, deep clean the property.

Most junk removal services don’t take hazardous materials, including paint, gasoline, bleach, and other chemicals. When gathering quotes, ask the company about its specific restrictions.

Who is responsible for construction debris removal depends on the language in the construction contract. Usually, the contractor is responsible for removal rather than the homeowner. However, removal and disposal tend to come with additional fees that should be listed as line items in the initial estimate. This way, the homeowner can negotiate and decide whether or not to DIY.

If you have a construction company on-site carrying out demolition or construction, the company will often include language in your contract about who is responsible for post-construction cleanup and brick disposal. If you’re responsible, you’ll have to hire a junk removal company or haul the material to a local recycling facility yourself. Double-check your contract before signing to see which party is responsible.

While a rented dumpster can handle a wide variety of materials, there are significant restrictions on what is allowed. Generally, you can dispose of most non-hazardous household junk, yard waste, and construction debris.

Accepted items typically include:

  • Furniture, carpets, old linens, and toys

  • Wood and yard debris

  • Small appliances and excess trash

  • Renovation waste like old finishes, building debris, and roofing materials (unless they contain lead paint or asbestos)

However, you cannot put toxic, flammable, or hazardous materials in a dumpster. Prohibited items almost always include:

  • Paint, gasoline, oil, and other fuels

  • Household cleaners and other chemicals

  • Electronics, batteries, and tires

  • Refrigerators, hot water tanks, and medical waste

Since regulations can vary by location and company, it is essential to check with your dumpster rental provider for their specific list of accepted and prohibited items before you begin.
