"I was very impressed with Gillis Lawn & Tree Service. Tom was the first to call back, first to come out, took the time to look over all my other trees, was very knowledgeable, gave me a few tree trimming hints which I really appreciated, and accommodated his schedule to meet the 5/1/2022 city date to remove the infected Ash tree. The day of work, on time, worked efficiently and did a great job in cleaning up. All at a fair price (in fact, I also requested trimming of a Locus tree and he did some trimming to the other Locus next to it at no additional cost). I highly recommend Gillis Lawn & Tree Care! Great local company to do business with!!"

"We start work at 6:00 am and have had problems with previous snow plowers getting the parking lot clear early enough. J&J All Seasons has it ready on time and is done very well."

"I had 4 tree services come by for estimates. All Seasons was the most reasonable plus they were recommended by a friend.  They were very quick to respond and were able to do the job just a few days after the estimate. Everything looked great and they didn't leave a mess.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

Trees naturally want to grow upward, so one may straighten all by itself, though this only comes into play when a tree is leaning just a small amount. For trees growing into an awkward position or those leaning heavily in one direction, the above steps are necessary to ensure the tree gets back on the right path. This also holds true for trees planted in a spot with unstable soil.

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

The best plan of action for an unhealthy or unsafe tree will depend on its condition. An arborist can recommend whether trimming or removal is the right call for your tree. Preventive tree trimming can keep trees safe and healthy, so make regular tree trimming a part of your yard maintenance plan.
