"We have worked with Victor twice now and both times have been fantastic. The first time we hired him, we needed floors done on 2 levels of our house. We had LVP put in and we love our new floors. This most recent time we hired him to do our master bathroom remodel. We tore out our existing shower/flooring/vanity, etc and replaced it all. He did an amazing job on everything! The tiling is incredible and everything turned out beautifully. All of the shower prep work was done properly as well - we had been sending picture updates to a family member in the construction business and he was impressed by the work. Victor's level of communication is what really sets him apart from anyone else we've worked with. He keeps you informed and always replies to texts/emails/calls right away. He also sends out people who are very nice and who respect your home and clean up after themselves. And if any mistakes are made, he is quick to make it right. (We had an issue with our shower door - upon install the glass installer cracked our brand new shower tile. I sent a picture to Victor and within minutes (literally) he had talked to the glass installer, texted me saying he'd replace the broken tile and reinstall the door, and then he showed up about 15 minutes later to see the tile and put together a plan for making it right. And 2 days later it was fixed and re-installed). Our tile installer was Dmitiry - who I also HIGHLY recommend, he does fantastic work!!"

"We had three bids for this job and West End Kitchen Inc. came in in the middle price wise. What we liked about West End besides all of the favorable reviews was Richards {owner} very detailed way of working. He measured everything in the bathroom, then made up a very detailed plan for the new bathroom {you pay for this plan in advance}. What this did for us was, we could get a very good idea of the finished project, and also there would not be any surprises when it was done. And it makes it easy for Richard to have good control over the project. Richard provided us with a timetable calendar so we knew what was happening when and how long the project would take.  Richard has an office in St. Paul that is full of mock ups for choosing cabinets, plumbing, surfaces and hardware. We wanted to use porcelain tiles in our project and he recommended  Minnesota Tile, which we did use and were very happy with selection, price and the knowledgeable staff.  Before the project began Richard was out to cover the flooring from the front door to the rooms past the bathroom and also some wood work. Nothing was forgotten, this project went very well and on time.  Andy was the guy that did the majority of the work, from demolition to his beautiful tile work, no short cuts were takin. Andy was punctual, polite and always able to discuss any concerns we had. We soon learned that Andy and Richard were true professionals and relaxed and let them do there jobs. This project took three weeks to complete and using West End Kitchen Inc. made the whole project as easy going as possible for us, Richard even found a way to save us some money on our vanity top by using a remnant piece that was very close to our original choice, how many contractors would do that.          The work that was done was a complete tear out of old fiberglass shower, flooring, vanity, toilet, half of the sheetrock and bath fan.    New shower drain and lined cement shower base, densshield, and new sheetrock, new shower fixture, porcelain tiles on shower floor and walls and on room floor, new vanity, faucet, quartz top, new Toto toilet, new mirror, new Panasonic bath fan, installed new shower door we had bought, did a knock down on the ceiling and painted, and new trim around the door. We did the painting of the walls and Richard allowed us time for that.  We highly recommend West End Kitchen Inc.

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Porcelain tiles can last 60 years or longer. With high-quality tiles and proper installation, your porcelain tiles may even outlive you, making them well worth the initial investment.

To help your porcelain tiles last longer, you should clean and maintain them regularly. You don’t need any harsh chemicals to get the job done. Rather, use a cloth, hot water, and mild detergent. And don’t forget to learn how to clean floor tile grout, as that’s just as important as tile maintenance.

Terracotta tile is a broad term for clay tile that’s been fired in a kiln, and Saltillo tile is a specific type of terracotta tile produced in Saltillo, Mexico. In addition to Saltillo, terracotta tile comes in a range of other shades and styles. You’ll often find it used in buildings throughout Mexico, southern Europe, and the western United States.

Yes, tile floor removal is a physically demanding project that takes between eight and 12 hours per 100 square feet. It also requires protective gear and closing the area off with construction-grade plastic sheeting to avoid dust and damage to other parts of your home.

For professional labor and materials, it would cost between $6,000 and $28,000 to install 1,000 square feet of Saltillo tile flooring. If that’s out of your budget, you could consider laying the tiles yourself or choosing a less expensive type of flooring. For example, vinyl flooring costs just $2 to $7 per square foot, so for a 1,000-square-foot space, you’d pay $2,000 to $7,000.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.
