Customers say: True professional

"Dmitriy and his guys did a great job re-doing a herringbone kitchen backsplash that a previous contractor had completely screwed up. Each step of the process was done well (demo, drywall repairs, tile install, etc.) and we’re extremely happy with the finished product. We would definitively hire them again."

"Profi's installation of a backsplash was awesome, the craftsmanship is stellar. Nazar and Yrick did a wonderful job and it took even less time than estimated. Highly recommend and we will use them in the future when the needs arise."

"They got me in right away due to cancelation. Good work. Polite staff. Cost way more than I would have thought, as they insisted on tiling the entire area, instead of patching"

"Gustavo and his team did a wonderful job. They installed in floor heating and wood-look tile in my basement. If there was anything I wanted them to change they did it no problem. Very easy to deal with especially since the people installing the floor are the ones that I was communicating with from the beginning (vs. the bureaucratic nightmare at Home Depot.) They will come back if there is any problems after installation because they stand by their work."

"Derrick did a fabulous job on the installation and the rest of the team was very responsive to our questions. We also had stone backsplash installed in the kitchen and bathrooms and could not be happier!"

"The project went very smooth, everything was done in a timely manner and they did a great job, the ceiling turned out perfectly. We needed a couple touch up areas after they were done and Cesar came out quickly to get it touched up. I would definitely recommend them for any drywall needs and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Penny tile should be sealed to protect the grout from moisture and keep stains from damaging the look of the tile. If penny tile is in a humid or high-traffic area, like a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, it needs sealant. Any type of tile and grout is best maintained with a sealant reapplied by a pro every one to two years.

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.
