"Our log home was pressure washed and stained. It looks beautiful. Great communication. Kevin let us know weekly where we stood for scheduling before starting project. Kevin talked to me daily with updates and questions throughout the job. Listened to what I wanted done and did it. All materials and tools picked up at end of each day and at end of project. I was very happy with the entire job that Kevin and Drew did."

"Excellent. Brandon was professional, he was prompt, did everything he promised to do, his rates were very reasonable, his painting skills are phenomenal, his cleanup was immaculate, and he went the extra mile doing additional things for me. I really honestly can’t say enough good things about his work and his professionalism. I highly recommend hiring him for any painting that you need done. I will most definitely hire him again."

"Luke and Doc were so pleasant and efficient! Communication was great and Luke checked in with me the day before project began to confirm. They arrived as stated and did an awesome paint job! Luke told me if I saw any area that needs attention to call him and he will fix it. I will definitely hire them again!"

"Steve is a hard working person. Who made our bathroom level again. He is fair, honest and trustworthy. He took photographs, because it's a crawl space and kept us informed through out the process. I would hire him in a minute should we have another job come up!!!! Thank you Steve!!!!!"

"It was just over $500. Actually, it?s my son?s house, he paid for it. That included the price of the toilet, it was special order, and they are always substantially more than you can get out of the store. That was our main cost, the toilet itself.

I thought they did very well. I talked to other ones that didn?t really know how to handle the problem and one wanted to chisel out the floor. This was the only one that seemed knowledgeable enough to put in a thicker ring. I thought they were very professional, they were in and out, they worked quick. Price was reasonable, it was more than we were planning on spending, but considering the special circumstances, I guess it was mid-range. I can?t say they were cheap, but you get what you pay for. "

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Constant exposure to inclement weather conditions can damage your deck, causing it to fade, warp, or crack over time. Regular maintenance keeps it looking and performing its best. That means giving it a good cleaning and applying a quality sealant or wood treatment to help defend against moisture, sun damage, and everyday wear.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.
