"They did an excellent job with all the work. They were able to perfectly color match the stain to my new detached garage which had vinyl siding. Very good attention to detail. All seams between siding and windows were caulked. They use high quality Behr products. They started and finished the job quickly and had very good communication throughout the job. Would definitely recommend them to anyone needing this kind of work done."

"MJ is great to work with. We’ve hired her three separate times now, first she did the entire lower level of our house, then later stained and painted the entire exterior, then later came back for the whole main floor. We’d hire her again in a heartbeat. MJ is easy to communicate with and helpful picking paint colors, making suggestions, etc… She works quickly and cleans up after her projects well. Her pricing seems very reasonable compared to other painters we’ve worked with. Were happy to recommend MJ to anyone."

"Green Construction proved to be very hard working. They were the lowest bid I received, but far exceeded my expectations on getting the job done and worked with me to make sure we completed the job just like we designed. I would highly recommend this crew."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

If you want to achieve a deeper, darker stain color, wait 5 to 10 minutes before wiping it off. However, wipe it off faster for a lighter tone. When wiping off the stain during this part of the process, be sure to work in the direction of the wood’s grain for best results.

Two coats of stain are ideal for the best protection and aesthetic appeal. However, if your decking is made of particularly dense hardwood, you may only need one coat. If you want an intense color, two coats are ideal.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

You’ll need to restrain your deck when you notice fading, cracking, peeling, or mold and mildew over a moderate to large area, or when it’s become especially difficult to clean. As for how often to stain a deck, plan to do it every two to three years or whenever you start to notice extended damage.

The longevity of paint on wood depends on factors like the quality of the paint, surface preparation, exposure to elements, and maintenance. Exterior paint on wood surfaces can last 5 to 15 years or more with proper care and maintenance. Interior paint tends to have a longer life span, often 10 years or more. Regular cleaning, touch-ups, and addressing any issues like peeling or cracking can extend the life of the paint.
