Austad Construction Inc provides metal roofing, asphalt roofing, residential roofing, flat roofs, commercial roofing, roof tear-offs, reroofing, and roof repairs, and FREE estimates

"First Dave took days to respond, then roofing was delivered to the neighbors. Roofing was delayed, and i was notified the first day. The 2nd day i heard nothing from Steve and had to call to find out. I was told the driveway would be covered with tarps and magnets would be used to pick up nails. This wasn't done and i had to pick up 100's of nails myself from driveway and all around the house and neighbors house. Front and back steps weren't covered with tarps while roofing, so one had oil stains, the other brand new composite steps had gouges, tar stains, and a broken light. Corner piece of my siding had a hole put in it. My birdbath was also broken. Roofers left garbage all over the place. A few nails and little pieces of roofing were left on the roof after they were done. The office called before the job was completed to get final papers signed, i had to tell them they aren't done yet. Long delays and poor communication, a roofing job with soffit and fascia took about a month total. Corner siding piece was finally replaced, and a couple hundred dollars was taken off the price for the broken items."

Landscapes Unlimited is the Minneapolis landscaping design/build company with a distinguished reputation for superiority in design, architecture, construction, landscape care, and customer service. Our distinguished landscape design portfolio is full of creative ideas for outdoor structures, lighting, patios, bars, decks, retaining walls, fire features, sports courts, and swimming pool design. Our hard-working team of landscapers serves clients in metro Minneapolis, St. Paul, the Twin Cities suburbs.

"My experience with Landscapes Unlimited was initially promising but has unfortunately turned into a prolonged and frustrating ordeal. The initial stages of the project, involving the installation of a retaining wall, appeared professional and well-handled. However, the real issues began post-installation. I first noticed problems with the retaining wall, as it started to separate at the corners. After reaching out to Landscapes Unlimited, I was instructed to submit a warranty request, which I did promptly. Despite multiple follow-ups via email and phone calls across several months, my request for warranty repairs has not been adequately addressed. The lack of response and action from Landscapes Unlimited has been disappointing, particularly considering the significant investment made in this project. What concerns me the most is the apparent lack of commitment to post-installation service and honoring the warranty terms. The communication has been sporadic and non-committal, leaving me with an unresolved issue and growing concern about the integrity of the work done."

Snow removal services FAQs

Before hiring a snow removal company, it’s essential first to ask questions to understand the details thoroughly. Since every company has different policies and snow removal methods, it’s best to clarify upfront before you’re left in a heap of snow. Some starting questions to consider include:

  • What are the procedures for a snowstorm? Do I need to call you each time, or do you automatically come out?

  • Do you wait until after the snow has stopped falling or make multiple passes throughout the storm?

  • What is your method of removal?

  • Do you use salt after the snow is removed? Is it pet-safe?

  • How does your billing work? Do you bill extra for blizzard conditions?

  • Can I sign an annual contract, or do you bill for each storm?

The cost of an annual snow removal contract is $200 to $600. This cost is significantly impacted by the area you live in. Places that don’t receive considerable snowfall might charge less for an annual contract, and those areas that get heaps of snow throughout the fall and winter can expect to pay on the higher side. In addition, property size, expected response time, and extra services like clearing a sidewalk can also impact your cost.

Yes, most states require that snow removal companies be insured under workers' compensation. This protects the employees financially if an injury were to happen (and when dealing with ice and snow, it’s possible that injury could occur). In addition, most states require snow removal companies to be covered under general liability, which would help cover the cost of any property damage incurred during the removal process.

Depending on where you live and your average snowfall, removing snow from your property yourself with either a shovel or a snowblower is reasonable. A snow shovel costs around $60, and a snowblower can range from $100 to $2,300. However, taking a DIY approach to this isn’t always the best option. In these cases, it’s best to hire a professional snow removal company:

  • If you have a large property or an extended area that needs clearing

  • If you have certain health conditions, such as mobility issues

  • If you want to save time or need the snow removed ASAP

  • If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall and want to offset your time spent

  • If you lack the space to store snow removal equipment

It’s no surprise that removing snow from your driveway makes coming and going significantly easier and lowers the risk of falling. However, it’s important to note that if you don’t remove snow from your driveway, you run the risk of damaging your paving. As the snow melts, water can seep into your driveway. This can lead to the formation of cracks. When the water freezes, this expands the minor cracks, leading to more significant damage.
