I filled out a warranty request last year because several of the plants that Landscapes Unlimited planted had died or were dying on our new Stonegate home. I was told it was too late in the season to do the work last fall and that they would complete it in the spring. Now they’re telling me the warranty has expired and they will not honor the warranty. Do you think that sounds like they have integrity? Also, that’s how they treated us after we spent thousands of dollars on a patio and landscaping project with them. Their workers scratched our brand new siding and then refused to come back and make the repairs

I do NOT recommend Landscapes Unlimited for any landscaping project. I dealt with so many different contractors for various projects in my home, and all ended with a very pleasant experience. Before engaging Landscapes Unlimited on a large project, I had no idea that I would have go through the same stress and experience at every stage that Landscapes Unlimited gave to us. Quality of work is terrible, schedule is totally unpredictable, project manager who is supposed to be on site every day is hardly seen, and surprises on new damages every other day – they damaged the gas line, sprinkler system, plumbing, and the list goes on. They caused so much erosion issue all over on our property that even our nice neighbors got annoyed and filed a complaint against them to the city. In terms of the quality of work, cracked pathway, uneven patio floors, sunk seating benches are just a few examples of many. Their crews are so incapable they can’t even follow the planting instructions to install flower plants. They installed 57 plants and about 40 of them died – they started dying within a month after they planted. And their warranty – good luck! They play all kinds of tricks and games to bail them out of the warranty. With me, each time they came up with a reason for not covering them under warranty, I provided them the evidence to negate their points. After they tried 4-5 times when they ran out of all the excuses, they just said they are unable to provide any warranty support without any good cause. I wanted to share my bitter experience on Landscapes Unlimited here to make you aware of what might be coming to you if you choose Landscapes Unlimited for your any landscaping project. In the event you decide to go with them, make sure to read and understand all the small fonts of the contract before signing, never pay 50% of the contract value in advance, and most importantly make all conversations in writing (e.g. email recap of your verbal conversation) because they deny saying so unless you can prove them otherwise.

My experience with Landscapes Unlimited was initially promising but has unfortunately turned into a prolonged and frustrating ordeal. The initial stages of the project, involving the installation of a retaining wall, appeared professional and well-handled. However, the real issues began post-installation. I first noticed problems with the retaining wall, as it started to separate at the corners. After reaching out to Landscapes Unlimited, I was instructed to submit a warranty request, which I did promptly. Despite multiple follow-ups via email and phone calls across several months, my request for warranty repairs has not been adequately addressed. The lack of response and action from Landscapes Unlimited has been disappointing, particularly considering the significant investment made in this project. What concerns me the most is the apparent lack of commitment to post-installation service and honoring the warranty terms. The communication has been sporadic and non-committal, leaving me with an unresolved issue and growing concern about the integrity of the work done.

Landscape Unlimited had great vision during the design process and really listened to what we wanted for our end result. They delivered 100%. The final product was perfectly designed and beautifully-executed landscaping. We now have amazing curb appeal with artistically shaped, natural-looking and elevated plant beds with rock boulders and native plants. We have an enormous back lawn where there was none before. There is a wonderfully designed patio to replace a boring and outdated back deck. The new landscape lighting ensures that we continue to enjoy this perfect after dark. Overall, we are very pleased with the work of Landscape Unlimited and look forward to using them again in the future.

Meeting with Dave the designer went fine, then we waited an extra week for the proposal. Call and email were not answered. We had been promised a drawing but did not get one until we asked for one. Proposal wasn’t itemized. I was home when all the work was done. I expected the crews to know what they were supposed to be doing and where. They didn’t know/follow the plan for rocks on west side of the house until I stopped incorrect placement of rock bed and showed them the drawing/plan. Irrigation crew left ruts in soil, garbage all over and rocks outside of rock beds. After irrigation crew left I spoke to owner, Chris, who assured me that my extra soil would be added and land graded nicely before sod was laid. Sod guys didn’t add any extra soil even when I asked the crew about it (so in the end I got less than 1” soil under my sod and only $800 compensation for the error), and they didn’t smooth out the ruts before just laying the sod. Sod guys weren’t aware of the part of the plan where some of the neighbors’ sod would be replaced; again, good thing I was home. After bringing all the issues to Chris’ attention, a couple workers were sent out to add a little soil under the sod so it wasn’t so lumpy and uneven from the irrigation ruts. Irrigation crew didn’t leave a “key” to adjust the nozzles; we had to get one from the sod guy. Then we noticed that the irrigation system was not watering two areas in the front enough, as the sod in those areas was dying/dead. An irrigation tech was out twice and adjusted the existing nozzles then the water pressure inside the house, after which we measured the water that fell in those two areas again during an irrigation cycle and found the issue still not resolved. He also replaced the dead sod. We reached out to Dave the designer, Dave the irrigation tech, and Chris the owner....all ignored us. In summary, I ddin’t get what I asked for specifically (more than once). I wanted 2-3” of topsoil under my sod and got less than 1” instead. It doesn’t matter that they used the allotted soil elsewhere....they should listen to the client and make it happen before moving on to the next steps in the project. Our sprinkler design is still faulty, as at one point the tech said he’d add two more nozzles to the system but never did that. And now we are being ignored, which another reviewer also experienced. Chris will tell you that they stand behind their work but actions speak louder than works. I shudder to think what the end product would look like if I had not been home directing the crews and chasing after them to do the work according to plan.

"Please accept our apology for the challenges that you encountered. I understand that your outdoor environment is meaningful and a personal extension of your home. Delivering to the customers expectations is important and we tried to achieve this through the subsequent visits that you mention in your comments. A home visit last month displayed a healthy green lawn, but please feel free to contact us with additional concerns."

We were thrilled to learn that Landscapes Unlimited would repair the wall at no charge to us, despite the collapse not being a result of their negligence. While we were at work, their warranty assessor determined the failure. We discussed some steps we'd taken to improve drainage (we'd begun those already) and a crew showed up soon after. The repair took 1 1/2 days and was done beautifully. I was really impressed that Landscapes Unlimited wasn't just doing the minimum to discharge their duty; they really wanted to ensure we don't have a future collapse, and acted as a partner with us to achieve that. The only reason the grade above includes 2 Bs rather than all As is 1) ideally the crew who installed our wall from Landscapes Unlimited would have flagged the design and product flaw, though it was really the designers responsibility and 2) several weeks passed between my initial conversation with the warranty department and the actual repair being performed. However, I called at the height of the landscaping season and, given the fact Landscapes Unlimited wasn't technically obligated to perform the repair those are niggling details.

Would NOT recommend! It started out good with the consulting, then hardscaping but they really let us down with the landscaping, including irrigation/drainage (one corner of our yard was a swamp all last summer and sod is now washed away in that area), sod replacement, plantings, etc. Not only did we have issues with their subs (concrete, fence company, sprinklers/irrigation) but the communication was poor, things were not communicated between their team, and things did not get done in a timely manner. Our sod had to be replaced 3 times during the project and one year later is looking bad again since they laid sod down on Class 5 dirt (for a path for their heavy equipment). Their landscaping was sloppy (we had to personally level out the planting areas and mulch and conceal the lighting wires) and we have several shrubs and one tree that have died and need to be replaced due to inefficient drip lines. We also had to replace our underground dog fence since that was cut in several places and never repaired. We tried to have them come out and complete the punchlist in August 2016 so we could pay the retainage but they never returned our calls, texts or emails. Obviously, our project was no longer a priority. We spent 15-20% more than the company recommended by our pool company thinking it was worth the investment and because we personally liked Jeff (he is a nice guy) and his ideas. Unfortunately, the overall quality and service was not worth the extra investment. We have had to and will continue to invest a good amount of our personal time and resources to fix the issues. We would never invite them back or recommend them and have many pictures to support this review.
Response from Landscapes Unlimited
"We are genuinely sorry for the issues outlined in your comments. Our team sat down and re-evaluated our process for customer response and customer service. I want to thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We are always looking for ways to improve our service, and your feedback is an invaluable part of that process. We pride ourselves on the award-winning work that we do for hundreds of customers each year. We are aware that we let you down, and for that we apologize."

We couldn't have been happier with the work of Jeff and his crew. Jeff designed a solid plan, his crew paid fantastic attention to detail when doing the work, he was flexible when we decided to do things like re-use our existing water feature, and came in under budget. I would use them again and recommend without reservation.

We met Jeff, one of Landscapes Unlimited designers, at the MN Home and Garden Show. We met a few times to talk about our needs and wants for a new backyard. Jeff is amazing. He took our ideas, and crafted them into a design we immediate fell in love with. We had a big project, with a big crew. And they were all awesome guys. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was top notch. If you want the cheapest bid from someone who will cut corners everywhere they can and hope you don't notice, Landscapes Unlimited is NOT for you. These guys took pride in their work and would take it upon themselves to redo things if it didn't live up to their very high standards. I can't say enough good things about Landscapes Unlimited. It was a big project and they knocked it out of the park. I will absolutely use them again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to my own friends and family.

The value added to my home with this landscaping change is wonderful. The house looks much better, and the landscaping is not overwhelming. Crews were fantastic!
Main contact did a great job of design, but his follow up is sporadic at best. The job was completed as promised and on time. Follow up is key, and on that issue, not so great. I am still waiting for a copy of the plan so I know what the names of all these new plants are.

We first met a sales team from Landscapes Unlimited at the Home and Garden Show in the spring of 2012 and promptly scheduled an appointment with designer Jeff Ondrusik to discuss our plans to completely remodel our back patio, deck, and yard. Jeff listened to our ideas and put together a wonderful design. We agreed on the pricing and moved forward with the project. The project included removal and replacement of our existing retaining walls, deck, and concrete patio, along with adding stairs next to the terrace, lighting, irrigation, plants, trees, mulch, and rock. It was a very large and cumbersome project but the staff at Landscapes Unlimited did a fantastic job! The employees and subcontractors who worked on our project were all courteous and professional, keeping us informed of the daily progress and thoroughly cleaning up after themselves at the end of every day. Even with some very uncooperative weather they managed to complete the project in a timely manner, often working long hours in the evenings and on weekends. Jeff and his team completely transformed what was once an absolute eyesore into a beautiful oasis for us to enjoy for many years. We had such a positive experience with Landscapes Unlimited that we contacted them again in the summer of 2013 to add a Basalt water feature in the back and update our lighting and mulch in the front of our house. Again, our second project turned out as great as the first and we had another fantastic experience with this company! We are very pleased with the high level of communication, professionalism, and talent that Landscapes Unlimited offers and we most definitely recommend their services.

Landscapes Unlimited is exactly what you hope for when hiring a contractor, quality work that is performed on time and within budget.
We were fortunate to meet the Landscapes Unlimited team during a visit to the Home and Garden Show in St. Paul. While reviewing photos of their work, we immediately recognized projects in our neighborhood that we envied.
Our project manager, Jeff, worked collaboratively with us to understand our vision and deliver a landscape plan that met our needs. Through multiple revisions and adjustments, Jeff patiently redrafted plans and updated proposals. The end result is our outdoor sanctuary, complete with fountain, outdoor fireplace, sitting wall, paver patio, beautiful lighting, and berms with lush plantings. Jeff and his team delivered an outdoor space that exceeded our expectations. We couldn't be happier with the end result, and we have received many compliments from family, friends, and neighbors.
Landscapes Unlimited is a very professional business. Their team was extremely diligent about leaving a clean job site at the end of every day. When you are in the midst of a large scale landscape project, it's nice to know that your contractor respects you and your neighbors enough to make certain sidewalks and streets are swept clean and tools and equipment are stored properly.
Landscapes Unlimited transformed our yard into an outdoor extension of our home. It's a great space for us to wind down and enjoy beautiful summer afternoons and evenings (trust me...we plan to enjoy it during the fall and winter as well, but we just completed the project in July). We are also finding it to be a great place to entertain.

We recently used Landscapes Unlimited for a new paver patio,
driveway and sidewalk, as well as a new retaining wall and landscaping. We selected this company after seeing their
display at the St. Paul Home and Patio show.
We’ve lived in our home 22 years and realized that we needed a makeover!

We are extremely pleased with the results.

The project began when we met with Dave Sonka of Landscape Designs
Studio, a freelance landscape designer who does work for Landscapes Unlimited. Dave is very knowledgeable and was wonderful
to work with. He was able to take our
ideas for the project and turn them into a plan that was perfect for our needs.

Once the project began, the owner Chris Holmgren and his
crew were here working every day until each detail was completed. We have to say that Chris’s crew was always
very friendly, positive and professional.
At the end of each day, the team would clean up the worksite, not
leaving anything out of place.

Throughout the project Dave and Chris would come out to our
site and review and make any adjustments that needed to be made.

It has been about two weeks since we finished and we are
thrilled with the outcome. Our neighbors and friends are so impressed with the
look and the quality of the work. Dave
came over for the final walk through and made sure everything was as
expected. Everything this was completed
except for the final cleaning and sealing, which will be done 60 days later
after the pavers cure.

If you are looking for a solid company and great people to
work with choose Landscapes Unlimited for your project.

My husband and I purchased a new home last year. The house was great but the yard needed a lot of work. One of our neighbors had landscaping recently done in their yard and referred us to Landscapes Unlimited. We called the company and they came out and gave us a quote the very next day! As soon as we accepted the bid the designer came out and presented us with a fully designed to scale drawing of our yard and future landscaping. The designs they came up with were really great and just what we were in need of. When they came out to do the work, their service was friendly, professional and prompt. Best of all the price was exactly what they quoted. We would definitely recommend the company!

75% if the work was in tearing out and in preparation of the sand and soil under the pavers. In the course of this work they found damaged foundation block and drainage systems. This was all fixed (it did cost more but not that much) and the Mega-Lafitt (these are large pavers pavers were installed.
This is a very professional and hard working group of people. People in our neighborhood commented on how hard these people worked. There is a Supervisor with the staff the entire time.
They did a terrific job and their work is beautiful. I highly recommend!!!!!
