"I am so pleased with the outcome. The lower level of my tri-level home was flooded with the recents rains. The workman were on time and were very professional. There was pride in the workmanship. The project was completed on time and the price was very fair and affordable. If I ever need a construction project done again, I would definitely hire Alexander Graham LLC."

"My designer Michelle was very talented and drew up 2 very functional closets. My installers were neat, clean and very conscinous. Rico was especially polite and meticulous about his work. "Overall, we had a very good experience with Rob and Zach.  They were incredibly patient with our very challenging and large kitchen renovation ($65k total cost).  There were many design challenges to overcome for which they always found a creative solution. Rob and Zach run a very honest operation, including things that most contractors won't do, such as utilizing a Lowe's LAR account so that you can see exactly what you are paying for materials.  Payments for labor were done upon completion of work without pressure of deposits, etc.  Their pricing was definitely fair and better than other contractors that we had quote the job.  They were very prompt and very open/patient to our ideas and suggested ways to improve the design and functionality throughout the entire process.  We will definitely use Rob and Zach again in the future!

Closets questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to build a closet varies widely depending on the project's size, complexity, and level of customization. On average, construction can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

A simple reach-in closet might be completed in less than a day, while a more complex walk-in closet could take one to two days or more. A typical project often falls in the 2-to-5-day range. However, a large, highly customized walk-in closet that requires structural changes, like moving a load-bearing wall, will take significantly longer.

A professional contractor can provide the most accurate time estimate for your specific project. If you are planning a DIY build, it is best to budget additional time.

You can turn an adjacent room into a walking closet by just rearranging the room. This means removing the furniture and adding racks and an island in the center if you have that in your budget. Houses with two bedrooms connected to each other are great options for large walk-in closets that don't require any structural changes or much building whatsoever.

When you are securing your DIY home office built-ins to the wall, you should start by locating the wall studs. You'll then want to use long screws to attach the cabinets, shelves, and bookcases directly to the wall studs. Your built-ins will be far too heavy to attach to the drywall alone by using anchors.

Costs range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on size, materials, and design complexity.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.
