"Thank you! You were a pleasure to work with."
hurt my knee and couldn?t walk out into the yard to see what they were doing,
so had to trust in Tom. By the time they were done with the work, I was able to
hobble out to the yard and noticed that they had removed my ridge vent!!! I was furious. I paid a lot of money to get
that ridge vent installed to correct an air flow problem in the attic years
before, and they removed it!?! And did so without asking me! And with NOTHING
in the contract about it??!! And then
Tom had the gall to ask me to pay him for the job right then? He was always
difficult to converse with, now it was even more difficult. I told him that I would not pay him for the
job until I got someone from the City of Royal Oak to come out and see it and
advise me. He kept bugging me until I
shut the door in his face and told him to go away! He left, but on his way home he called to
tell me that he would be back in a couple of days to reinstall the ridge vent.
I thought that was an awfully quick change of attitude. The next AM I called
the Royal Oak city inspector and she looked up to see if they had pulled a
permit. Ha! No permit!! No wonder he had such a quick change of heart. He was
at the office an hour later pulling a permit!
He came back and reinstalled the ridge vent and I paid him. Big mistake.
I should have gone up in the attic first to check on the ridge vent. It looked
OK from outside, but inside the attic the opening still had shingles over it,
so it is not functional as a vent. Someone suggested I make them come back and
fix it. H*** no! I do not want to see Tom again ever. He has no conversational skills and is very
unpleasant. The woman in the office
(Brenda?) is very nice, but that doesn?t make my roof any better. Now what? Do
I have to go up in the attic and cut out all the shingles and hope I don?t cut
too far? After paying them $2850?
In February when we had a lot of ice build-up, I had leaking
inside my house right where they put (supposedly) the ice/water shield. I had to pay another company to come over and
fix it. I feel like I got screwed over twice. I wonder if they would have done
the same thing to a man?
Do not use this company.
"All point construction is sorry you had a bad experience. We came out and did exactly what we said we where going to do including installing ice n water shield. The ridge vent was not on the contract because It was not the right ventilation system for your home. Ridge vent only allows exhaust air therefore requires intake air on both front and back of home. I explained to you that I would of said the same thing before we started the job and that it wasn't about the money. I had asked you to go onto airvent.com which we are certified in many different ventilation systems. You had stated you didn't care and wanted a ridge vent so we delivered that. I still feel the same way about your application."
"Thank you so much for your review. Your business means alot to us. Anything you need let me know."
This is an old house and as they got into the job they saw problems they had not expected (or at least I had not expected). The dinning room floor was not level and that had to be addressed before laying the tile. When the dishwasher was removed to tile under it, we noticed that the line leading to it was damp and had a slight leak. They replaced this line and replaced any material that was damaged before continuing. They were careful to connect the new tile to the older tile in the bathroom so that it was not obvious.
The job turned out beautiful. I see no flaws in the way it was laid. It is perfectly level and even. I am extremely happy with the work.
"Thanks again for the business. You were a pleasure to work for. If you need anything let us know."
They started by protecting the surrounding area from any debris. During this time the shingles and all supplies were delivered. Then they started the tear-off of the old shingles and placed them in the dump truck that they provided. Then they replace 5 sheets of decking that was required. Next they installed the GAF Weather Watch Leak Barriers 6' at Eaves and Valleys and 3' at Flashing walls and Chimneys. Then GAF Shingle Mate was put on all remaining rook decks. Next the Drip Edge, which matched my gutter color, was installed. Then the GAF Timberline HD shingles were installed. Then the GAF Timbertex hip and ridge cap shingles were installed. Then the exhaust vents were installed. Lastly they went around the house to clean up any debris that were remaining.
