I would never recommend this company to anyone. There were so many PROBLEMS and MISTAKES. Tiles both on the wall and floor and that to be torn out and redone because they were not lined up evenly, had marks, corners chipped, and gouged areas. Uneven grout on both the walls and floor (still a problem). Walls had to be repainted. ALL the walls and ceiling looked like they were COVERED with particles of something that made the paint look like sandpaper; in the paint ; there were also 2 large bubbles in the ceiling. The 2nd trip back had 5 smaller bubbles forming that kept getting larger. This is just some not all the mistakes that were made. I even had a loud argument on the phone with Mr. Prebus when I called about the wall tiles on the wall in the tub not being lined up even. On the phone without even looking at them he told me "YES THEY ARE". I reminded him he told me from the beginning that we DO NOT PAY HIM UNTIL WE ARE 100% satisfied. He told me that he would report me to some state board and he would get his money. I told him that is not my point I wanted him to COME OUT and look. He ended up coming out alright and finding 3/4 of a wall had the tiles off ( 1/3 to 2/3 instead of 1/2 to1/2 right down the middle). There were and are still other things that were never corrected. WARRANTY OR NOT I DO NOT WANT THIS COMPANY BACK IN MY HOUSE. I will call someone else if or when a problem comes up. Both my husband and 2 sons went through all this also; so they know what we all went through. This job was supposed to be 9 days to 2 weeks; plus I was told 2 weeks for the counter top; sometimes up to 4. 4 weeks later he was still coming to fix problems. The counter ended up being the full 4 weeks. The faucet; the very last thing was done on January 27th. He had to come back that night (it was leaking) and the following Saturday his partner came back to caulk because any water around the base of the faucet was getting underneath and dripping into the cabinet.
"Anyone browsing our reviews and can back 5 years or more (last 4 we win super service award. Only 5 percent of anyone advertising in Angie's list gets that) and see our level of work. We never stop trying to please and this customer was no exception. I could write a book on how completely unreasonable [Member Name Removed] was. In the 30 years doing this we have NEVER run across a person like this. Funny thing is I had a bad feeling about accepting her project but unfortunately we did. By the time her husband warned me about her and her past experiences with ALL contractors it was too late. We always start what we finish and at a high level of quality and customer satisfaction. I live my life trying to make people happy and without trying to offend, this particular customer was just not going to be satisfied by anything or anyone. Unless you know of someone like that you may not understand. Up until we experienced this I certainly would have told someone you could have done more to make her satisfied. The delays were not at all our fault. One very small example was the mosaic tile she picked for the floor, I will upload a picture if possible, she had us pull out 35 tiles because of tiny dots from the manufacturing that you could only see with a magnifying glass. We did this by the way for free as well as many many other things just to try and satisfy her. There were 72 tiles per sheet and knowing how she was we asked her to mark the tiles she wanted to use to replace the the 35. There were 19 from one and 12 from another out of 72! Not a blemish we could actually see with the naked eye. Many other examples too numerous to post. I will attempt to copy the finished pics of the bathroom as well as those tiles I mentioned. If you take the time to read our previous posts you will see what we are truly about and that [Member Name Removed]'s expectations could not have been met by anyone."
, Rob and Zack did an excellent job. They were patient, easy to work with, and pleasant to have around. We felt as if Rob really listened to and respected our wishes. When they said they would be at our home at a certain time they were here. Things were left neat and cleaned up. We are hiring them again to do some work in our kitchen.
I'd also like to comment for a friend who is not a member of Angie's list. After surgery her husband wasn't able to walk. He'd been placed in a nursing home. Their home was not handicap equipped. He couldn't even get into the bathroom. I gave her Rob's phone number. He and Zack made time in their busy schedule to help, so that our friend could return home. The work was excellent and their kindness greatly appreciated.
It went fine
retrofitted to the needs of the 1940?s to a living space for gaming systems, television, young children playing, home office, and homework stations. They were creative and cost sensitive. I had other companies out in the past to give
estimates and provide thoughts, and none seemed to understand what we were looking for. Rob and Zack have a great
deal of experience in the area and with the post WWII homes. They knew the techniques used on these homes and how to approach working on or near the infrastructure.
They gave us a family/entertainment room, a half bath, and an office while maintaining space for the utilities. It is our favorite part of the house! We had issues arise as projects in older homes often do, but they were able to work with us and look for ways to offset additional costs. I wish we would have made the investment earlier as it has improved the quality of life for us and
our 3 children to have some additional space and peace!!!! Dispite "unexpected" issues that arose, the project stayed within budget and we couldn?t be happier. I would highly recommend Rob and Zack and if additional projects arise, they will be the first company I call.
Throughout the project, Rob and Zach took the time to explain what they did, what they were doing and what they were going to do... in easy to understand terms.
The only thing I would have preferred would be more up-front project planning. I believe the job turned out to be bigger than expected due to a lack of project planning, which impacted the time and amount of money required to do the job... that being said though, it was well worth the cost and the wait as I was flexible on the time and they were flexible on the payments above the original price quoted.
Thanks Rob and Zach for the FANTASTIC work! I look forward to working with you again when its time to remodel the kitchen!! I have already recommended you to others and will continue to do so!!
Our bathroom had a significant recurring mold problem due to insufficient ventilation. The right solution to the problem was to gut the existing tile and drywall (except the floor) and install a proper ventilation fan. We contacted Design Renovations in min august 2013 for a quote. Rob came out and made excellent suggestions on what we could do with the space. We hired them in early Sept. with the work planned to start in time to be finished by Thanksgiving.
We were initially concerned about their payment model because it was very different than what we have encountered in the past. However, it worked out extremely well. We paid them for their work at the end. Instead of paying Design Renovations up front, or during the work, we paid the subcontractors directly. We also either purchased items ourselves (such as the vanity and cabinets) or placed cash on their contractor account at Lowes (which they drew from to purchase supplies). Every purchase was backed up by receipts to account for every penny spent.
In the end though, this was great, as one of the issues we have had with contractors in the past was their cash management resulting in problems with subs. In this case, there were no worries at all.
There was only only one minor down side to the whole experience, There was a small miscommunication at the start of the work that was equally our issue. When they were hired they stated that they would contact us 2-3 weeks before work began to discuss final details. We lost track of the time (our fault) and was surprised when they called 2 days before they wanted to start work. Other than that, the whole experience was great!
The work was started the first week in November and completed in under two weeks. The work was of high quality and professionally completed. The result was a bathroom that is elegant and modern instead of old and moldy.
Everyone associated with the company was highly professional and friendly. I would not hesitate to hire them again for our future remodeling needs.
